Kodak camera phone technology at 3GSM : At 3GSM 2006 in Barcelona, Spain, Eastman Kodak Company, one of the world’s most recognised brands in digital imaging, and Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI), the leader in semiconductors for mobile phones, will be demonstrating a technology that will bring improvements in camera phone image quality and increased ease of sharing of camera phone images from phone-to-phone, phone-to-web and phone-to-print. Additionally, Kodak and TI will show how users could more easily generate prints from Kodak Kiosks or share their images and memories on the Kodak EasyShare Gallery, also powered by Texas Instruments OMAP2420 processor. The OMAP2420 processor is a member of TI’s widely adopted OMAP platform.

How many people share photos with their camera phone? : Research and Markets has announced the addition of Mobile Imaging Services - Focusing on the User Experience to their offering. A built-in camera function is considered by many users to be one of the most desirable features in wireless handsets, yet, evidence suggests that only a tiny percentage of camera phones are used regularly to transmit digital pictures or to store for later use reports 'Mobile Imaging Services - Focusing on the User Experience'. Less than a third of camera phone owners indicated that they share digital picture messages with friends. People who haven't yet purchased camera phones are very enthusiastic about all the uses for their images.

Samsung SPH-V8200 8 Megapixel camera phone : Samsung Electronics has unveiled the SPH-V8200, an 8 Megapixel WCDMA camera phone. The company also introduced the Samsung SPH-B4100, a dual digital multimedia broadcasting phone. The two phones were unveiled on Thursday by Lee Ki-tae, president of Samsung's Telecommunications Network. The Samsung SPH-V8200 mobile phone features a TFT LCD that supports 16 million colors. It also has an auto focus function. Lee Ki-tae said the image quality of the phone's 8 Megapixel digital camera was as good as that of an expert-class digital camera. The mobile phone has also been packed with several advanced features. Samsung Electronics plans to market the phone in the Korean market later this month.

Fujifilm mobile imaging : The first company to offer retail printing solutions to wireless carriers three years ago, Fujifilm is using its photo processing technology expertise and extensive retail printing infrastructure to become a key imaging resource for leading carriers, including Sprint Nextel, Cingular Wireless and Alltel. Analysts are estimating that 30 million camera phones will be in operation by the end of 20051, with projections that imaging capability and quality in mobile devices will continue to grow. Fujifilm continues connecting retailers to this burgeoning market and expects that opportunities to capture revenue from these images will increase. Samsung HDSPA phone at CES 2006 : Samsung, a leading provider of mobile phones and telecom systems, reinforce its technology leadership with the world's first successful demonstration of High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) technology, reaching speeds up to 3.6 Mbps, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Although there have been several demonstrations of speeds up to 1.8 Mbps in the past, Samsung's demonstration of HSDPA handset speeds of 3.6 Mbps is the industry's first ever. Web browsing, as well as streaming and downloading of content, will be demonstrated to compare with speeds of 1.8 Mbps and 384Kbps. Samsung's 3.6 Mbps HSDPA handset allows users to download content much faster than on WCDMA or GSM/GPRS networks.

Samsung SGH i300 includes 3GB storage : Cornice Inc., an innovator in consumer storage solutions, announced Samsung has included the 3.0-gigabyte Storage Element (SE) in the production of its Samsung SGH-i300 embedded music smartphone. The Samsung i300 phone was announced during CeBIT 2005 and is available on retail shelves for European customers as of November 2005. This phone is aimed at bringing audio, video, personal storage and traditional voice communications together in one device. Cornice will provide for Samsung's line of high storage capacity mobile phones. Previous models include the SPH-V5400, with a 1.5-gigabyte Cornice SE, and the SPH-V7900 video camera phone, with a 3.0-gigabyte Cornice SE.
