HP expands global recycling program : HP today announced the expansion of its product return and recycling program to reach more customers and create new ways for people to discard used or unwanted electronic equipment in a convenient responsible manner. The company will host a series of product collection events in the United States throughout the summer to raise awareness and increase the rate of electronics recycling among consumers. The collection events, which will accept a range of products from any manufacturer, will be held from June through September in Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Mexico and Oregon. In addition to working closely with customers, HP proactively engages with external stakeholders.


HP property rights in Ink

HP property rights in Ink : HP announced that the company is working with national retailers Walgreen Co. and Office Max to resolve ink patent infringements found in multiple US stores of both companies. Inks found in both Walgreens and Office Max refilling service stations infringe HP patents. Both companies are cooperating with HP and are working toward resolution. "HP protects its intellectual property wherever infringements are found," said Pradeep Jotwani, senior vice president, Imaging and Printing Group, HP. "Decades of R&D investment by HP have resulted in more than 4,000 patents related to printing supplies, allowing us to deliver the superior quality and reliable printing experience associated with original HP supplies."

HP Photosmart R707 recall : The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Hazard: The digital camera can cause certain non-rechargeable batteries, such as the Duracell CP-1, to overheat when the camera is connected to an AC adapter or docking station, posing a fire hazard. Incidents/Injuries: HP has received one report of a camera catching fire, damaging the camera and its docking station, and causing minor smoke damage to the room. No injuries have been reported. Description: This recall involves the HP Photosmart R707 Digital Camera. The HP logo and the model name and number are printed on the front of the camera.

HP Photosmart cameras and printers introduced : HP today announced a new line of digital photography solutions with features and functionality that greatly enhance the photography experience for consumers. The company also reported results from a new research study confirming that consumers believe HP Photosmart printers deliver the best overall photo printing experience. Today’s product introductions include several affordably priced printers, including the first and only compact photo printer on the market capable of storing more than 4,000 photos the HP Photosmart A716 Compact Photo Printer. HP also debuted its first touch-screen LCD on the HP Photosmart D7360 Photo Printer for an easy, kiosk-like printing experience at home.

HP printers and camera technologies introduced : Driving growth across its $25 billion imaging and printing business, HP today announced a fleet of products for fall, the expansion of its Halo Collaboration Studio business and two company milestones. HP rolled out more than 100 imaging and printing products for the home and home office, including six HP printers based on the company's scalable printing technology to deliver the industry's fastest printing speeds at affordable prices as low as $129; HP's first printer with a touch-activated display for an easy-to-use, kiosk-like printing experience in the home; the industry's first compact photo printer capable of storing up to 4,000 photos; and four ultra-compact digital cameras.

HP and the Kyoto International Culture Foundation : HP and the Kyoto International Culture Foundation today announced a program to preserve a critical element of Japan's heritage through the digital replication of fine art from 3,500 temples and shrines, beginning with artwork created between the 13th and 17th centuries. The original paintings have been deteriorating due to the effects of time, climate and air pollution and were in danger of being lost forever. The foundation chose HP for the Kyoto Digital Archive Project, initiated in 2000, because of the company's ability to provide a complete fine art replication solution, including very high-quality large-format printers and powerful IT resources for long-term, secure storage.

HP Photosmart Studio sold at Wal-Mart stores : HP and Wal-Mart today announced plans to place the recently introduced HP Photosmart Studio in a total of 50 Wal-Mart stores and SAM'S CLUB locations nationwide. The deal increases the number of units from the four installed in the retailers' stores during a pilot period. The HP Photosmart Studio is the first and only in-store solution where consumers can design creative products in about five minutes and pick them up in one hour - all without having to crop or place photos into individual templates. Simple and quick to use, hundreds of photos are laid out in minutes using proprietary image management algorithms developed by HP Labs.
