Fuji Graphic & Fuji Photo deliver Digital powerhouse

Fuji Graphic & Fuji Photo deliver Digital powerhouse : Fuji Photo Film Canada Inc. and Fuji Graphic Systems Canada Inc. are joining their operations into one company that will serve the photo imaging, graphic arts, computer media, and motion picture markets in Canada. The name of the new company will be Fuji Photo Film Canada Inc. and the headquarters will be located at 600 Suffolk Court, Mississauga. The amalgamation is expected to be completed by April 1, 2006 and a president for the new combined Fuji Canada operation will be named by that date. In a meeting with employees of both companies, Shunji Saito, President of Fuji Photo Film Canada explained that “we are in the midst of a dramatic shift in digital imaging technology…"

Fujifilm FinePix V10 preview : We have just received a sample of the Fujifilm FinePix V10. Although the sample is in a pre-production status we can give you an exclusive inside look of the compact Fujifilm V10 camera. This brand new model, comes in two colours; Gunmetal or Orange finish, features the Real Photo Technology and is equipped with an ultra large 3 inch monitor. It's only been a year since manufacturers have started to use 3 inch displays for their prestigious products. Once you have worked with such a large display you never want to go back to a smaller sized one. The FinePix V10 incorporates a 5.1 Megapixel Super CCD HR sensor which already attained high scores regarding excellent noise/signal ratio at high ISO values.

Fujifilm cuts 5,000 jobs : Fuji Photo Film (President & CEO: Shigetaka Komori) is implementing a full spectrum of policies and measures based on VISION75, a mid-term management plan formulated in Feb. 2004 that articulates three fundamental strategies: “Building new growth strategy,” “Implementing comprehensive structural reforms over all management levels,” and “Enhancing consolidated management.” Policies and measures include: actively investing in growing businesses such as the flat panel display materials business; conducting drastic reforms in R&D structure to create new businesses; establishing the Advanced Core Technology Laboratories that conduct the basic research in order to expand the current business domain.


Fujifilm Professional Distinctions Awards 2006

Fujifilm Professional Distinctions Awards 2006 update : Fujifilm UK announced that the format of Fujifilm Professional's Distinctions Awards has changed for 2006. The main change is that all images must now have been shot using film. These images can then be scanned and submitted in the usual way via the Distinctions website, www.fujifilmdistinctions.co.uk. The prize fund has been increased, with the 1st prize being doubled to £2,000. A runner-up prize of £1,000 and a 3rd place prize of £500 have also been introduced. Fujifilm Professional will carry on its support for the wider industry through its support of the main professional photographic associations and its continued backing of the Envisage marketing programme.

Fujifilm mobile imaging : The first company to offer retail printing solutions to wireless carriers three years ago, Fujifilm is using its photo processing technology expertise and extensive retail printing infrastructure to become a key imaging resource for leading carriers, including Sprint Nextel, Cingular Wireless and Alltel. Analysts are estimating that 30 million camera phones will be in operation by the end of 20051, with projections that imaging capability and quality in mobile devices will continue to grow. Fujifilm continues connecting retailers to this burgeoning market and expects that opportunities to capture revenue from these images will increase. Fujifilm investigates camera phone usage and consumer behaviour.

Fujifilm Blu-ray and HD DVD media : Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. announced that Fujifilm-branded Blu-ray and HD DVD media will be available mid 2006. Prototypes of the new Fujifilm HD DVD and Blu-ray media will be on display at the Fujifilm booth at CES 2006. The company also continues to conduct significant research and development in the area of holographic storage technologies that will bring future generation, multiple terabyte optical storage capacity to consumer, entertainment and commercial applications. A single terabyte of holographic disc storage is roughly the equivalent of 16 days of continuously running DVD movies, or 8,000 times more data than a human brain retains in a lifetime.
