Fuji Hunt becomes Fujifilm Europe

Fuji Hunt becomes Fujifilm Europe : Fuji Hunt Photographic Chemicals N.V (“Fuji Hunt”) in Sint Niklaas, Belgium has become Fujifilm Europe NV consolidating Fuji Hunt’s European sales and corporate services activities. Fuji Hunt’s manufacturing activities will be consolidated in a separate company. Fujifilm Europe NV becomes the Fujifilm group’s operative European headquarters working closely with Fujifilm Europe GmbH, for the chemicals used with Fujifilm media consumables and wide-format inkjet products. On top of solution development and product marketing, distribution channels synergy will be created already shown as the Fuji Hunt activities in France, Germany, Italy and the UK are being integrated into the business.

Fujifilm S5 Pro SLR : Confirming the company’s commitment to professional photographers, Fujifilm announced the much anticipated FinePix S5 Pro digital SLR camera. The new FinePix S5 Pro is further affirmation of Fujifilm’s goal to achieve professional D-SLR image quality consistent with Fujifilm’s professional film heritage. The FinePix S5 Pro carries attributes that made its predecessor, the FinePix S3 Pro, so popular with wedding, portrait and studio photographers. One of them is increased dynamic range from the new Super CCD SR. Using a unique layout of twelve million paired photodiodes (6.17 million larger ‘S’ photodiodes for main image information, combined with 6.17 million smaller ‘R’ photodiodes for bright area information).

Fujifilm Fujichrome Velvia ISO 50 professional film : Fujifilm is pleased to announce plans to re-introduce an ISO 50 Fujichrome Velvia professional film, tentatively named Velvia II. Fujichrome Velvia (RVP 50) was the first high color saturation, high contrast transparency E-6 compatible film when it was introduced in 1990 and was a favorite among photographers. Its discontinuation was announced last year due to difficulties in procuring some of the raw materials used to produce the emulsion. “Since we announced the discontinuation of Velvia 50, we have been inundated with requests from photographers worldwide to continue production,” said Christian Fridholm, Director of Marketing, Picture Taking, Imaging Division, Fujifilm USA.

Fujifilm Photo Pickup at Walgreens : Walgreen Co. has teamed with Fujifilm USA, Inc. to make in-store pickup of digital photos even more convenient. Consumers can now order photos for in-store pickup at more than 5,500 Walgreens locations nationwide utilizing Fujifilm’s “Get The Picture Online Service” network. Photos can be picked up at any Walgreens location starting at just 19 cents per print. More than 1,500 Walgreens stores are open 24 hours and offer this photo service around the clock. Fujifilm’s network of “Get the Picture Online Service” partners includes Cingular, ALLTEL, Sprint (Nextel) Photoshare Service, Sprint Picture Mail Service, MSN communities, Microsoft XP Online Print Wizard, Microsoft Digital Image Library.

As of October 1, Tokyo-based Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd. will take on a new holding company structure, launching Fujifilm Holdings Corporation, which will provide strategic management of the entire group, including two newly named operating companies: The name changes have been made to better reflect the company's expansion into business areas beyond photography, while retaining the assets of "Fujifilm," which is an established corporate brand with a global reputation for reliability and high quality products and services.

Color filters for TFT liquid displays : Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd. announced today that it has concluded a contract with a major Chinese home appliance and electronic components company SVA Electron Co., Ltd. to establish a joint venture company called SVA-Fujifilm Opto-Electronic Materials Co., Ltd to manufacture color filters for TFT liquid crystal displays in Shanghai. SVA-Fujifilm will be the first company in China to manufacture color filters for large- size TFT LCDs. The new company will supply large-size color filters used in laptops, monitors, and large screen TVs for the rapidly growing Chinese LCD market, mainly through SVA-NEC, a member of the SVA group.
