Fujifilm Electronic Imaging Products Division Fujifilm USA announced the appointment of Todd Schrader to the position of Vice President, Sales, in the company’s Electronic Imaging Products Division. Schrader is responsible for managing all sales activities for the Division's consumer digital camera, professional digital camera, flash memory, and accessory product categories. He reports to Bill Drysdale, Vice President and General Manager of the Division, who made the announcement. Prior to joining Fujifilm, Schrader held senior level positions with Sony Electronics and Panasonic Corporation and most recently was Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Konica Minolta Photo Imaging.


Fujifilm acquires Inkjet Printhead manufacturer

Fujifilm acquires Dimatix Inkjet Printhead manufacturer : Fuji has made the decision to purchase Dimatix, Inc. (headquarters: California, USA), the leading manufacturer of industrial inkjet printheads. A purchase agreement has recently been concluded and the transaction is expected to be completed in July 2006. Dimatix will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Fujifilm. Dimatix is a world leader in the research, development, manufacture and sale of printheads used in industrial inkjet printers, which are increasingly being used in such fields as outdoor advertising and packaging materials. As such, the company supplies printheads and provides after-sales service to printer manufacturers and various other users.

Fujifilm annual operating profit fell 57 percent : Japanese Fuji Photo Film said its annual operating profit fell 57%, weighed down by charges for lay-offs and film production cuts, and it forecast a slower-than-expected recovery this year. The company also said it would adopt a new company name, Fujifilm, in line with its brand name for camera film in October, when it plans to create a new holding company. "In any country you go, you can see signs for Fujifilm. It's a worldwide brand," Fuji Photo Film President Shigetaka Komori said. The world's second-largest camera film maker after U.S.-based Eastman Kodak suffers from a shrinking camera film market, even though that business now accounts for less than 10 percent of its sales.

Fujifilm new holding company & operating companies : Fuji Photo Film announced that it resolved a decision at its Board of Directors meeting to start a holding company structure, launching a new holding company and new operating companies. The names of the new companies have also been decided along with candidates for membership of the Board of Directors. The administration will be launched under the new structure on October 1, the current Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd. will become the holding company, Fujifilm Holdings Corporation to provide strategic management of the entire Fujifilm Group. Fujifilm Holdings will be directly responsible for the two major operating companies, Fujifilm Corporation and Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd

Fuji Graphic & Fuji Photo deliver Digital powerhouse : Fuji Photo Film Canada Inc. and Fuji Graphic Systems Canada Inc. are joining their operations into one company that will serve the photo imaging, graphic arts, computer media, and motion picture markets in Canada. The name of the new company will be Fuji Photo Film Canada Inc. and the headquarters will be located at 600 Suffolk Court, Mississauga. The amalgamation is expected to be completed by April 1, 2006 and a president for the new combined Fuji Canada operation will be named by that date. In a meeting with employees of both companies, Shunji Saito, President of Fuji Photo Film Canada explained that “we are in the midst of a dramatic shift in digital imaging technology…"

Fujifilm cuts 5,000 jobs : Fuji Photo Film (President & CEO: Shigetaka Komori) is implementing a full spectrum of policies and measures based on VISION75, a mid-term management plan formulated in Feb. 2004 that articulates three fundamental strategies: “Building new growth strategy,” “Implementing comprehensive structural reforms over all management levels,” and “Enhancing consolidated management.” Policies and measures include: actively investing in growing businesses such as the flat panel display materials business; conducting drastic reforms in R&D structure to create new businesses; establishing the Advanced Core Technology Laboratories that conduct the basic research in order to expand the current business domain.
