Face detection for camera phones : FotoNation, announced at the 6Sight Mobile Imaging Summit, FotoNation “Face Tracker,” the world’s first face detection and tracking technology for camera phones. FotoNation Face Tracker represents a major breakthrough in advanced digital image capture technology. It detects the presence and position of a subject’s face at up to 30 frames per second during image capture enabling optimal setting of exposure, focus and color balance. At the Mobile Imaging Summit, FotoNation demonstrated simultaneous tracking of up to 8 faces on a camera phone. FotoNation Face Tracker is a highly portable software implementation that scales in performance according to the power of the processor used in the device.

Red-Eye reduction for Samsung cameras : FotoNation announced today that digital cameras made by Samsung Techwin Co., Ltd are now shipping with patented red-eye detection and correction technology licensed by FotoNation. The Samsung i6 and the recently announced Samsung NV3 digital cameras include the FotoNation innovative in-camera Red-Eye Reduction Technology, making it easier for consumers to take perfect photos every time. FotoNation is the leading licensor of embedded red-eye reduction technology to the digital camera industry. The company recently won the 2006 European IST award in recognition of its superior automatic correction of the red-eye photographic problem.

FotoNation Red-Eye correction patent : FotoNation, Inc. one of the world’s leading award-winning imaging and connectivity solutions companies for the digital photography industry, announced today that it has been awarded a patent for Red-Eye detection and correction. Issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), USA patent #7,042,505 for “Red-Eye Filter Method and Apparatus” claims priority as of October 1997. The patent describes the process of red-eye detection and red-eye removal for any digital filmless apparatus and illustrates FotoNation’s offering of red-eye correction technology for devices, such as digital cameras, imaging-equipped cell phones as well as digital printers.
