Seiko Epson Micro Piezo technology : Seiko Epson Corp. has announced that it will expand the commercial and industrial applications for its Micro Piezo inkjet technology. Epson's unique Micro Piezo technology is known for the benefits it provides in Epson's award winning Epson Stylus Photo and Epson Stylus Pro range of inkjet printers. Epson has also developed a network of commercial and industrial partners in areas that include photo lab printing, digital printing, and textile printing. All of its partners have used Micro Piezo to develop a range of products that meet specific market needs. Epson is now broadening the opportunities to other partners who wish to benefit from further joint development of Micro Piezo technology.

Seiko Epson agrees inkjet cartridges settlement : In on-going activities to protect its intellectual property rights, Seiko Epson Corporation has agreed to settle with Recharge Inkjet Technologies Limited an internet retailer (trading under the name CartridgeMonkey) based in Bolton, UK. The settlement terms include Recharge undertaking not to infringe Epson’s patents and registered designs, and making substantial settlement payment to Epson. The full terms of the settlement are confidential. Mr Scott, director of Recharge said, “Following discussions with Epson's, we have discontinued our range of ink cartridges compatible with Epson branded printers because of concerns that they may infringe Epson's intellectual property rights.

It is the world's largest annually printed publication distributed in over 34 countries worldwide with an expected 174 million copies to be produced in 2006. The complete system chosen includes Epson UltraChrome K3 large format printers and GMG ColorProof software. It will be used by Inter IKEA Systems and its prepress partners worldwide. Inter IKEA Systems has deployed stringent quality standards to ensure consistent colour accuracy is achieved in the production of the catalogue.

PictSync develops guidelines for Photo Sharing : Epson, HP, IDS, Olympus, PortalPlayer and Samsung, working together as the PictSync Promoters Group, today announced guidelines to increase interoperability between digital cameras, camera phones and portable media players. The guidelines, dubbed PictSync, will enable the easy transfer of digital photos between two portable devices that are able to capture or store images, without requiring a personal computer. A licensing program is under development to allow for broad industry adoption of the PictSync guidelines. “PictSync is very Synergetic to PictBridge, we expect it will provide extended interoperability to PictBridge capable devices,” said Koji Abe, General Manager, Canon Japan.
