It is the world's largest annually printed publication distributed in over 34 countries worldwide with an expected 174 million copies to be produced in 2006. The complete system chosen includes Epson UltraChrome K3 large format printers and GMG ColorProof software. It will be used by Inter IKEA Systems and its prepress partners worldwide. Micro Piezo technology from Epson receives award : At the heart of all Epson’s digital printing technology lies the unique Micro Piezo print head. The leader of the project responsible for its invention, Minoru Usui, currently Seiko Epson director and the general administrative manager of the Production and Engineering & Development Division, has been awarded the prestigious Perkin Medal in recognition of his achievement. The award, established by the Society of Dyers and Colourists, recognizes individuals for their outstanding technical development within the realm of colour science. Only 22 of these medals have been awarded since the award’s inauguration in 1901. The awards are presented in honour of William Henry Perkin.

Epson develops OLED print head : Seiko Epson Corporation ("Epson") has successfully developed the world's first print head using an OLED (organic light-emitting diode) light source. In addition to its development of OLED displays, Epson has researched the characteristics of OLED as an electronic device. Specifically, Epson has succeeded in creating a print head that uses OLED as a light source (OLED print head), opening the way for utilization of OLED as a new printing technology for printers. At present, electrophotographic printing technologies for copiers and printers use either laser or LED light sources. Epson merged the many years of expertise it had accumulated in printing and display technology.
