Seiko Epson agrees inkjet cartridges settlement : In on-going activities to protect its intellectual property rights, Seiko Epson Corporation has agreed to settle with Recharge Inkjet Technologies Limited an internet retailer (trading under the name CartridgeMonkey) based in Bolton, UK. The settlement terms include Recharge undertaking not to infringe Epson’s patents and registered designs, and making substantial settlement payment to Epson. The full terms of the settlement are confidential. Mr Scott, director of Recharge said, “Following discussions with Epson's, we have discontinued our range of ink cartridges compatible with Epson branded printers because of concerns that they may infringe Epson's intellectual property rights.

The Epson Perfection V350 Photo and Epson Perfection V100 Photo scanners, with estimated street prices of $149 and $99 respectively, both feature a newly designed slim case suited for either portrait or landscape orientation with a high-rise lid and hinge that can be opened up to 180 degrees.

Epson GT-2500 scanner : Epson America, Inc. Today announced two fast, affordable document imaging scanners designed for small business workgroups with the Epson GT-2500 and GT-2500 Plus. These flatbed scanners are not only engineered to capture high-quality, but can do so at resolutions up to 1200 x 1200 dpi for intense detail. They can scan documents up to 27 pages per minute in monochrome (ppm) and up to 11 ppm in color in 300 dpi. Both scanners also come standard with several productivity-enhancing features such as a 50 sheet automatic document feeder (ADF), automatic duplexing, one-button scanning, and more. The Epson GT-2500 and GT-2500 Plus are respectively priced at $599 and $899 and will be available in July 2006.

A6-size electronic paper from Epson : Seiko Epson Corp. ("Epson") has successfully developed A6-size (7.1 inches on the diagonal) electronic paper using a plastic substrate. Drawing on Epson’s original SUFTLA technology, the new electronic paper achieves Quad-XGA resolution (1536 x 2048 pixels) - the world’s highest - and shows the potential for increasing screen size. The development was announced on June 9 at the Society for Information Display (SID) international symposium held in San Francisco. Epson has long been working to develop and manufacture low-power-consumption, space-saving electronic devices. At the cutting edge of these efforts, R&D has focused on thin, light and flexible devices that can be reshaped as needed.
