Fujifilm S3 Pro Ultraviolet & Infrared photography

Ilse Jurriën : 2006-09-04 19:10:00
Fujifilm S3 Pro Ultraviolet & Infrared photography : With the recent announcement of the FinePix S3 Pro UVIR, Fujifilm has unveiled the world's first production D-SLR camera capable of taking photographs in the ultraviolet and infrared light spectrums. But what does this mean and how does a digital camera that can take pictures at either end of the light spectrum help to empower photographers in technical fields such as law-enforcement, medical research, art history, science and fine art photography? The human eye is a remarkable imaging device to be sure, but it can't see everything. Its sensitivity range is limited to wavelengths that normally start at 400 nanometers (violet) at the short end of the visible spectrum and extend to 700 nanometers (deep red) at the long end.

One-time-use camera study : As millions of people head to the beaches, mountains and lakes to enjoy the last few weeks of summer, many will want crisp, clear pictures to remember their adventures. But many hesitate to use a more expensive camera during rugged activities or at the beach. According to a recent survey by Eastman Kodak Company, 90 percent of Americans believe that one-time-use cameras represent a great companion to more expensive cameras to capture quality images in those situations where they might not want to risk a more expensive camera. Nearly 60 percent of Americans own more expensive film or digital cameras, but still turn to one-time-use cameras when they either want to protect their camera or isn't available.

Fuji FinePix F30 underwater housing

Ilse Jurriën : 2006-07-27 10:08:00
Fuji FinePix F30 underwater housing : The FinePix F30 is the first camera with RealPhoto Technology II, and that made me really curious about the performance of this camera under water. In order to be able to use the camera under water, you need the underwater housing WP-FX F30. The housing is extremely compact; “a smart little thing” is a frequently heard comment. There’s a functional diffuser for the flash. Extra protection thanks to the double O-ring. The camera functions can all be adjusted also under water. And the large display can be seen in full even in the underwater housing. Installing the camera in the housing is a piece of cake. The combination of camera and underwater housing does not have the tendency to float and to act like a buoy.
