SanDisk opens Flash Memory Design Center in India : SanDisk Corporation announced the opening of SanDisk India Device Design Center Pvt. Ltd. in the country's technology hub of Bangalore, where engineers will work on the core elements of the company's flash memory products. The announcement was made at a press conference in Bangalore that was attended by Sanjay Mehrotra, SanDisk chief operating officer, and other company officials. "India is a logical place for us to expand our global network of research and development centers because of the great talent pool here and because of our existing relationships with companies that support us in hardware, firmware and software testing," said Mehrotra, who is also SanDisk's co-founder.

These new Adobe OpenHD alliance partners, each of whom will be included in one or more certified turnkey solutions, include AJA, AMD, Blackmagic, Bluefish, CineForm, Focusrite, Huge/Ciprico, Matrox, NVIDIA, and Rorke. This expansion, along with the introduction of Adobe Production Studio, has enabled the creation of seven new Adobe OpenHD turnkey solutions supporting HDV to real-time compressed and uncompressed HD.

SanDisk completes Matrix semiconductor acquisition : SanDisk Corp. announced that it completed the acquisition of Matrix Semiconductor. On October 20, 2005, SanDisk signed a definitive agreement to acquire Matrix, a pioneer in the design and development of three-dimensional (3-D) integrated circuits. Matrix 3-D Memory is used for one-time programmable storage applications where low cost is the paramount consideration, such as video games, music, and archiving. The acquisition consideration included approx. 3.7 million newly issued SanDisk shares, the assumption of equity incentives which could result in the issuance of approximately 600,000 additional shares of SanDisk stock, and cash of approximately $14 million.

Consumer brand for recordable media acquires Memorex : Imation Corp and Memorex International, Inc, today jointly announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Imation will acquire Memorex International in an all cash transaction for $330 million. Imation is the world's leading provider of removable data storage media products designed to help customers capture, create, protect, preserve and retrieve valuable digital assets. Additional cash consideration ranging between $5 million and $45 million would be paid out over a period of up to three years after close, contingent on financial performance of the purchased business. The Boards of both companies; Memorex and Imation have approved the transaction.
