X-Rite announces new Chief executive officer : The Board of Directors of X-Rite, Incorporated announced the implementation of the planned CEO succession which was outlined at the time of the January announcement of the Amazys acquisition. Effective October 1, 2006 Michael C. Ferrara will retire from his positions of CEO and Member of the Board and Thomas J. Vacchiano Jr. will become President and Chief Executive Officer as well as a Member of the Board of Directors. Tom Vacchiano was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Amazys Holding AG from January 2001 until the acquisition by X-Rite in July of this year. Mr. Ferrara will remain available to consult on the transition through the end of this year.

SanDisk launches major retail expansion in India : SanDisk announced distribution relationships with Ingram Micro, the world’s largest wholesaler of technology goods, and Rashi Peripherals, one of India’s largest IT distributors, to sell SanDisk products throughout the country. Plans are to start with 2,000 stores in the coming weeks and increase to 14,000-plus by the end of 2007, according to statements made during a press conference at the Taj Mansingh Hotel in Delhi. Although the mix will vary among retailers, SanDisk intends to launch a wide range of products - including MP3 players, mobile phone cards, USB flash drives and digital imaging flash cards - throughout the country, concentrating initially on India’s 12 largest cities.

Schrader is responsible for managing all sales activities for the Division's consumer digital camera, professional digital camera, flash memory, and accessory product categories. He reports to Bill Drysdale, Vice President and General Manager of the Division, who made the announcement. Prior to joining Fujifilm, Schrader held senior level positions with Sony Electronics and Panasonic Corporation and most recently was Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Konica Minolta Photo Imaging.

The new office, Oki Trading (Beijing) has already begun operations to meet growing demand in the printer market, and has been earmarked to provide a wider range of Oki products in the future. The Oki Group currently has nine subsidiaries in China as part of its strategy to provide local-oriented business; with the inception of Oki Trading (Beijing) expects to achieve 20 billion yen sales by March 2009. Lee will direct Hitachi's U.S.-based marketing, communications and advertising strategies across the company's complete line of consumer electronics, including high-definition plasma, LCD and projection televisions, and DVD camcorders. Toshiba & SanDisk Continue Technology and Market Leadership : Toshiba Corporation and SanDisk Corporation announced today that, further to definitive agreements that the companies entered into in July 2006, construction has started of Fab 4, a 300-millimeter (mm) wafer fab, in Yokkaichi, in Mie Prefecture, Japan. The NAND flash memory market is growing fast, on healthy growth in a wide range of digital electronic applications, including MP3 music players, mobile phones and several kinds of memory cards. Toshiba and SanDisk started operation of a state-of-the-art 300-millimeter wafer fab, Fab 3, in summer 2005, at Yokkaichi Operations, and have boosted the facility’s capacity to meet market demand.

X-Rite acquires Amazys Holding : X-Rite, Incorporated (Nasdaq: XRIT), a global leader offering color measurement technology solutions, today announced the completion of its acquisition of Amazys Holding AG for a purchase price of CHF 77 per share plus 2.11 shares of X-Rite, Incorporated stock for each Amazys share. The total purchase price on the settlement date of July 5, 2006 was approximately $280 million. The acquisition was financed through a combination of cash, debt and X-Rite stock. Amazys develops, markets and supports hardware, software and services to measure and communicate color under the GretagMacbeth brand. The new combined company will be called X-Rite, Incorporated.

Fujifilm acquires Dimatix Inkjet Printhead manufacturer : Fuji has made the decision to purchase Dimatix, Inc. (headquarters: California, USA), the leading manufacturer of industrial inkjet printheads. A purchase agreement has recently been concluded and the transaction is expected to be completed in July 2006. Dimatix will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Fujifilm. Dimatix is a world leader in the research, development, manufacture and sale of printheads used in industrial inkjet printers, which are increasingly being used in such fields as outdoor advertising and packaging materials. As such, the company supplies printheads and provides after-sales service to printer manufacturers and various other users.
