PhotoSharks Internet Photo Challenge : PhotoSharks, the newest photo challenge over internet, invites you, starting with the 2nd of March 2006, to a great series of photo challenges. Beginning in Leverkusen, Germany, and spreading all over the world, the project provokes you to share your personal most interesting photos with people worldwide, proving you abilities and creativity. We are interested in your own interpretation of the world and its aspects in different situations, as well as your ability to catch it in a photo-frame. Everyone is challenged to submit creative photos according to a given weekly theme. You can also make suggestions on the set theme, making propositions that will be taken into consideration.


Fujifilm student Photographer of the year contest

Fujifilm Photographer Award : The deadline for the 2006 Fujifilm Student Awards is fast approaching. Students have until April 1st 2006 to submit their entries. This year's Awards has the subtitle, 'The Best of British' and students are asked to submit images that best sum up cultural Britain. The competition, which is the longest running and most prestigious student photography award in UK, will see the winner collect a first prize of £1,000 and the title of Fujifilm Student Photographer. Each winner will receive £50 worth of Fujifilm film and will be asked to submit a print for judging. The college that submits the most entries will receive a Fujifilm Professional counter-top refrigerator containing £500 worth of Professional film.


Canon Pro Football Hall of Fame photo contest winner

Canon Pro Football Hall of Fame photo contest winner : Doug Richards of Salem, Ohio is the winner of the Canon and Pro Football Hall of Fame Amateur's "Catch the Impossible" Photo Challenge for his photo of son Matthew playing youth football. Richards wins a trip for four to attend Super Bowl XL in Detroit and will earn a once in a lifetime opportunity to have his photo displayed in The Pro Football Hall of Fame, in Canton. In addition, he wins a trip for four to the 2006 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Celebration in June 2006. Richards took the winning photo during his son's football game for the United Local Eagles. Matthew, a pint-sized halfback, was photographed being tackled and stretching the ball out for a first down.


PIEA 2006 student-teacher photo competition winners

PIEA 2006 student-teacher photo competition winners : The Photo Imaging Education Association (PIEA), a member association of PMA, Jackson, Mich, USA, announces the winners of the 2006 PIEA International Student-Teacher Photo Competition. The judges have chosen 112 images submitted by 93 entrants out of 5,915 images submitted by 1,330 entrants from 101 schools in seven countries. Winners come from middle schools, high schools, colleges and universities in Australia, Canada, Guatemala, India, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Each award winner and exhibitor will share in the more than US$110,000 in prizes sponsored by 94 generous companies and organizations from six countries.

Nokia Nseries See New Photo Competition : The entry deadline is looming for the Nokia See New competition, an ambitious global initiative spearheaded by 5 top international photographers. World renowned photographer, Juergen Teller; leading American photographer, Philip-Lorca DiCorcia; award winning photographer, Nick Waplington; Raghu Rai, one of India’s most respected documentary photographers and Jiancheng Dong, a landscape & documentary photographer from China, all launched the competition back in October. Since then thousands photographers from across the world have taken up the challenge to ‘shoot new’ - capturing something from a different angle or something never previously photographed - using a megapixel camera phone.

Fujifilm Professional Distinctions Awards 2006 update : Fujifilm UK announced that the format of Fujifilm Professional's Distinctions Awards has changed for 2006. The main change is that all images must now have been shot using film. These images can then be scanned and submitted in the usual way via the Distinctions website, www.fujifilmdistinctions.co.uk. The prize fund has been increased, with the 1st prize being doubled to £2,000. A runner-up prize of £1,000 and a 3rd place prize of £500 have also been introduced. Fujifilm Professional will carry on its support for the wider industry through its support of the main professional photographic associations and its continued backing of the Envisage marketing programme.

It's a Wild World, and that’s not just our opinion, it’s the subject of Tamron's latest picture contest, an event open to legions of dedicated Tamron lens users. Actually, you don’t need to trek through the wilderness or go on a jungle safari to capture images that are potential winners. Your best photos taken while monkeying around at the local zoo, petting farm or aquarium may do the trick. The only rules on subject matter: An animal or animals must be prominently included, and the pictures must be in good taste. Entries must be received by October 31, 2006.
