Consumer Buying Guides launched by CEA & CNET : Consumer electronics are more accessible than ever now that the Consumer Electronics Association and CNET have joined forces to produce interactive CEknowhow Buying Guides to help consumers find products best suited for their needs. The Guides, which can be found on CNET’s web site and the CEA's consumer information site, are intended to ease consumer confusion about technology and lessen returns by providing useful information about consumer electronics products before shoppers even enter the store. The CEknowhow Buying Guides are currently available for digital imaging products and MP3 players hot gift items for upcoming celebrations such as graduation, Mother's Day and Father's Day.

Consumer Electronic devices growth rapidly : Products Consumer electronics products are more prevalent than ever with the average U.S. household owning 26 non-discreet CE products (up from 25 in 2005) and spending $1,200 on CE products in the past 12 months, according to data released today by the Consumer Electronics Association. CEA's annual CE Ownership and Market Potential Study also found that analog is giving way to digital technologies across the board, identifying the top five CE growth sectors as MP3 players, digital cameras, car video entertainment systems, in-dash CD players and notebook PCs. "America's love affair with consumer technology products continues," exclaimed CEA President and CEO Gary Shapiro.

Consumer electronics industry shows robust growth : The consumer electronics industry continues to drive the USA economy with robust growth throughout the entire employment spectrum, as well as record-breaking productivity according to a new report issued today by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). "The data CEA released today underscores that America's consumer technology sector is influencing all aspects of our economy with strong employment growth and continued productivity gains," said Gary Shapiro, CEA president and CEO. "Our industry serves as a prime example of American ingenuity, with the industry employment picture giving every indication that the exceptionally strong growth will only continue."

CEA reports consumer electronic sales record in 2006 : Factory sales of consumer electronics will reach a new high of $135.4 billion in 2006, according to the Consumer Electronics Association's (CEA) annual industry forecast released today as the industry prepares to convene in Las Vegas for the CES 2006, the world's largest consumer technology tradeshow. "The numbers say it all, the consumer electronics industry is hot," said Gary Shapiro, CEA's president and CEO. "Sales exceeded our expectations in 2005, totalling $125.9 billion and we're forecasting 8 percent growth in 2006." The complete report is available free to CEA member companies.
