Celestron Skyscout telescope with GPS technology : Telescopes has announced that the demand for Celestron’s new SkyScout is nothing short of remarkable. The SkyScout is a hand held device that uses GPS technology to identify more than 6,000 stars, planets and sights in the night sky. According to Fortune Senior Editor Peter Lewis, “Celestron's SkyScout is the best thing to happen to backyard astronomers.” Telescopes Marketing Director Jon Thralow said, “It’s like the Tickle Me Elmo and PlayStation craze but this is for science geeks. The SkyScout is a $399,- item that has sold for more than double that on eBay.” The company will honor all orders without raising prices, but soon will not be able to guarantee delivery before Christmas.

Night viewer Celestron SkyScout for Boy Scouts : The Boy Scouts of America (BSA), the nation's foremost youth character development program, in partnership with Celestron, a leading designer and manufacturer of telescopes, binoculars, spotting scopes and microscopes, announced a joint program to encourage interest in space exploration and astronomy among America's youth, beginning with a donation of 200 Celestron SkyScouts. Each year in the BSA program, nearly 50,000 boys earn merit badges in space exploration and astronomy. To enhance their learning experience, Celestron is donating the SkyScout units to the astronomy programs at all high adventure and approximately half of the BSA summer resident camps nationwide.
