Canon USA advertising campaign : Canon USA unveiled its “What’s Next For Color” advertising campaign in support of its newest Color imageRUNNER, imagePRESS and imagePROGRAF devices in the second half of 2006. The What’s Next For Color advertising campaign, which kicked-off today with a five-page unit in The Wall Street Journal, will leverage a mix of unique and traditional media, as well as outdoor and radio advertising, with nearly $15 million in media schedule, and support the company’s brand slogan, Canon imageANYWARE. In addition to The Wall Street Journal ad unit, the What’s Next For Color advertising campaign will also utilize an eight-page Butterfly Gatefold in selected publications.

Canon releases 89 consumer products in 2006 : Canon announces that it will have released a total of 89 new consumer products this year - an average of one consumer product released every four days. The announcement coincides with the start of Photokina, the bi-annual European imaging and photography exhibition hosted in Cologne from tomorrow. Canon holds the number one position in the D-SLR camera, Digital Still Camera, Compact Photo Printer and scanner markets, and has the number one selling product in the Digital Still Camera and Inkjet Printer markets (with the Digital IXUS 55 and PIXMA iP4200 respectively). Canon is also driving the fast growing HD video market with the release of the HV10: world’s smallest HDV 1080i camcorder.

Canon4Kids Program : In August 2005, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita resulted in devastating loss for the Gulf Coast of the United States. The city of New Orleans was particularly impacted and they are still working to rebuild from the disaster. Today, digital imaging equipment donated to the New Orleans Police Department by Canon USA, Inc., through the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children will further help in the rebuilding efforts. A Canon digital camera, scanner, camcorder, printer and copier were presented to the Juvenile Division of the New Orleans Police Department at the International Homicide Investigators Association's Annual Training Symposium. The donation is made possible by the Canon4Kids program.

Canon leads digital camera market in 2006 : Canon is strengthening its leadership position as America's choice for digital cameras. In a recent IDC study*, the Canon brand captured number one position for total digital camera shipments in the first half of 2006, with a market share of 21.0 percent (which is up from 20.2 percent in 1H05). "As the digital camera market matures, it is more important than ever for camera vendors to meet dealer requirements for timely product introductions, and properly address consumer desires with compelling designs and feature sets," said Christopher Chute, research manager for the worldwide digital imaging practice at IDC. "Canon continues to properly execute on these critical principles."
