Canon IXUS 850IS at Kina : The large Canon booth showcased their entire digital imaging solutions to the public. And it is impressive to see how one manufacturer like Canon is able to offer so many solutions to photographing, printing, scanning, storing, sharing, etc. Canon's series of digital cameras, especially their Digital IXUS line-up, is very popular. Some weeks ago we were invited to come to London where Canon celebrated ten years of IXUS. Imagine, ten years of IXUS (analogue and digital) resulted into 33 million sold Canon IXUS cameras. Canon's latest IXUS introduction was a series of three Digital IXUS models. Among them the new Canon Digital IXUS 850 IS.

Canon releases 89 consumer products in 2006 : Canon announces that it will have released a total of 89 new consumer products this year - an average of one consumer product released every four days. The announcement coincides with the start of Photokina, the bi-annual European imaging and photography exhibition hosted in Cologne from tomorrow. Canon holds the number one position in the D-SLR camera, Digital Still Camera, Compact Photo Printer and scanner markets, and has the number one selling product in the Digital Still Camera and Inkjet Printer markets (with the Digital IXUS 55 and PIXMA iP4200 respectively). Canon is also driving the fast growing HD video market with the release of the HV10: world’s smallest HDV 1080i camcorder.

Ten years of Canon Digital IXUS : Canon marked reaching another milestone by holding a lavish celebration in the company of hundreds of journalists and guests from the photo, fashion, design and lifestyle industries. Last Thursday, 14 September, guests were flown in from all over Europe to one of the several hotels reserved for the occasion. Canon Digital IXUS was celebrating its 10th birthday and Canon wanted to share this anniversary with everyone who directly or indirectly involved in the IXUS's success. The original IXUS Advanced Photo System (APS) camera immediately became a design classic when it was introduced in 1996. The Canon IXUS design still has record sales up to the present day.

Yasushi Shiotani is the designer of the original Canon IXUS camera. In the twenty years since finishing his studies in Japan, he has worked exclusively for Canon. He completed his advanced studies in Italy, Milan. Seiichi Omino is the designer of the first Canon Digital IXUS model. He studied in Tokyo and during a career with Canon spanning eighteen years, has been responsible for the design of such blockbuster products as the Canon EOS 350D digital SLR camera.

Canon4Kids Program : In August 2005, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita resulted in devastating loss for the Gulf Coast of the United States. The city of New Orleans was particularly impacted and they are still working to rebuild from the disaster. Today, digital imaging equipment donated to the New Orleans Police Department by Canon USA, Inc., through the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children will further help in the rebuilding efforts. A Canon digital camera, scanner, camcorder, printer and copier were presented to the Juvenile Division of the New Orleans Police Department at the International Homicide Investigators Association's Annual Training Symposium. The donation is made possible by the Canon4Kids program.
