Nikon D200 honored by DIWA with a Gold Award : High expectations met the Nikon D200 when it was introduced a few months ago. Would it live up to them? The answer is an overwhelming “yes”. Nokia N80 receives TIPA Award : Nokia revealed that the Nokia N80 has been voted the Best Mobile Imaging Device in Europe 2006 by the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA), the largest photo and imaging press association in Europe. The award is an endorsement of the Nokia N80's industry-leading feature set, which makes it one of the most high performance devices currently available in the marketplace. ommenting on the award, TIPA praised the Nokia N80 as "so much more than just a camera phone." The official comment from the TIPA Awards 2006 jury reads: "the Nokia N80 is a multimedia device with a host of superb functions. It combines a 3 megapixel camera, integrated flash, 20x digital zoom, video and MP3 player.

IDG Macworld wins 2006 Maggie Award : IDG's Macworld, the premier Macintosh magazine, was named the best computer magazine in the consumer category by the Western Publications Association at their 55th annual Maggie Awards banquet. The prestigious award honoring excellence in print publishing was accepted by Macworld's Editorial Director, Jason Snell. "It's tremendously gratifying to be recognized by the WPA's Maggie Awards," Snell said. "These awards, along with our recent Folio Award, show what a great job the Macworld editorial staff is doing these days, both in print and online." Micro Piezo technology from Epson receives award : At the heart of all Epson’s digital printing technology lies the unique Micro Piezo print head. The leader of the project responsible for its invention, Minoru Usui, currently Seiko Epson director and the general administrative manager of the Production and Engineering & Development Division, has been awarded the prestigious Perkin Medal in recognition of his achievement. The award, established by the Society of Dyers and Colourists, recognizes individuals for their outstanding technical development within the realm of colour science. Only 22 of these medals have been awarded since the award’s inauguration in 1901. The awards are presented in honour of William Henry Perkin.

Nikon SLR cameras receives TIPA Award : Nikon has scooped three awards at the prestigious Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) awards 2006 with three top products earning best-in-class accolades. The Nikon D200 was named “Best D-SLR Expert in Europe 2006”, the Nikon D50 won the “Best D-SLR Entry Level in Europe 2006” award and the AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED has been dubbed the “Best professional Lens in Europe 2006”.
