Canon Australia professional photography awards : Canon Australia congratulates Urs Buhlman as the winner of the 2006 Canon/AIPP Australian Professional Photographer of the Year Award. The awards celebrate the cream of Australia's professional photographers by subjecting entries to a rigorous, peer-review process. Subjecting entries to such extensive judging innovation and photographic excellence among Australia's professional photographers. Having previously won the 2004 AIPP Advertising/Fashion Photographer of the Year, Mr Buhlman joined the peer judging panel for the 2006 competition. Speaking after his win, Mr Buhlman said judging the entries was a tremendous opportunity in itself to develop his own skills as a photographer.

Hasselblad H2D-39 TIPA award : TIPA Selects Hasselblad H2D-39 as Best Medium Format Digital System in European Photo & Imaging Awards 2006. The Technical Image Press Association (TIPA), whose membership comprises the editors of the top photographic magazines across Europe, has announced the winners of its European Photo & Imaging Awards 2006 and has accorded the accolade of Best Medium Format Digital System to the Hasselblad H2D-39. Justifying their selection, the jury comments : “Among the professional community, Hasselblad’s H body and lenses already have a reputation in line with the sumptuous quality of the classic film Hasselblads. The new H2D-39 however, is an integrated digital camera that boasts a massive 39 megapixels.

Nikon D200 DSLR Wins Camera Grand Prix 2006 Award : Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce that the D200 Digital SLR Camera has been selected by Japan’s Camera Press Club to receive the Camera Grand Prix 2006 award. The Camera Grand Prix is the Japanese photo industry’s most prestigious award for a digital camera. It is determined by a panel of 49 (in 2006) respected professional photographers, scholars and technical writers in the field of photography, as well as chief editors and magazine representatives of each of the 12 camera magazines that comprise the Camera Press Club. Canon Young people Arts Award : Arts Council England, North East next month launches a unique Arts Award for young people. A national scheme run through an exciting partnership with awarding body, Trinity Guildhall, and digital imaging specialist Canon (UK) Ltd, the Arts Award is the first accredited youth arts scheme to recognise young people’s development through the arts. Young people are encouraged to develop their favourite arts activity, get involved in the arts in their community, share their skills and run projects with others. Doing an Arts Award builds young people’s skills in the arts and in leadership, as well as building self-confidence. The Arts Award can be run wherever young people take part in the arts.

Canon XL H1 HD Camcorder wins Six Awards : Canon's XL H1 HD camcorder received five prestigious industry awards, including the NAB2006 Award for Innovation in Media (AIM) Award; TV Technology magazine's "STAR Award"; Videography magazine's "Vidy Award"; The 4ever Group's "Product Innovation Award"; and Television Broadcast magazine's "Top Innovation Award". In addition, Canon's Console software received Broadcast Engineering magazine's "Pick Hit" award at the 2006 National Association of Broadcasters exhibit, April 24 - 27, in Las Vegas.
