Canon USA honored with Brandweek number one ranking : Canon USA, the nation's market share brand leader in black-and-white and color laser copier/printer solutions has been named number one in brand loyalty in Brandweek's 2006 Customer Loyalty Survey in the "Office Copier" industry category for the sixth consecutive year. The survey is sponsored by Brandweek Magazine and Brand Keys, Inc. The Brand Keys survey marks the tenth annual assessment of consumer purchasing behavior, evaluating brands within industry segments to gauge which consumer values are driving future purchases and loyalty in the category. The survey is designed to predict future purchasing behavior as opposed to merely reflecting previous purchases.

Senior Nikon executive Shoichiro Yoshida wins Award : Shoichiro Yoshida, the senior Nikon executive who led pioneering efforts in integrated circuit (IC) lithography and helped establish Nikon as the world leader in this technology, has been named recipient of the 2006 IEEE Robert N. Noyce medal. Sponsored by the Intel Foundation, the award will be presented to Mr. Yoshida in recognition of his 30 years of contributions to IC lithography at the IEEE Honors Ceremony, June 24 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As former chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Nikon, Yoshida oversaw initiatives that led to major milestones in IC lithography. One of his most notable accomplishments is development of advanced steppers and scanners.

Scrapbook design award for Adobe Photoshop users : In just 23 days the "2006 Scrappy Awards," the first scrapbook design contest held exclusively for Adobe Photoshop Elements users, will stop accepting entries. The deadline for entries is 12:00 midnight EST, June 30, 2006. "This is an excellent opportunity for digital scrapbookers to showcase their best work and hopefully win some of the most cutting-edge tools out there,” said Matt Kloskowski, editor-in-chief of Adobe Photoshop Elements Techniques. “Then the winners can use those tools to create more funky and fantastic scrapbook designs." The "2006 Scrappy Awards" contest is free to enter. Entrants may submit a single digital scrapbook page created in Adobe Photoshop Elements.

Kodak receives International Oscar Business Award : Eastman Kodak Company's worldwide service organization, has been named Best Support Organization in the 2006 International Business Awards. Companies from all over the world competed in the third annual International Business Awards in more than 40 categories. This year's winners were chosen from more than 700 nominations from some 30 countries. "This award recognizes our commitment to our customers to provide almost any service, at any location, at virtually any hour," said Dolores Traxler, General Manager, Global Services, and Vice President, Kodak's Graphic Communications Group. "For us, 'service' can encompass anything from warranty repairs to performing installation.

Olympus Live view SLR wins TIPA Award : Olympus’ latest innovation in the field of digital imaging, the E-330 with Live Preview capability, has been awarded the TIPA “Best Imaging Innovation” prize in Europe for 2006. Each year, TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) confers awards to products and technologies of special distinction across a number of areas in the field of photography. The association membership currently comprises 31 publications across 12 countries. The Live Preview function of the Olympus E-330 digital camera has set a new standard in digital SLR photography by combining, for the first time, the convenience of a digital compact camera with the high-quality standards of a digital SLR.

Canon Australia Scholarship Award : Canon Australia and The University of Sydney have named Julia McIlwaine as the Canon Honours Scholarship winner for 2006. Julia was selected by the Faculty of Economics and Business for achieving the highest average marks in the Marketing major units of study in the Marketing Honours program. The Canon Honours Scholarship fund was established in 2003, and consists of a donation of $100,000 from Canon Australia to the University of Sydney to create a continuing annual scholarship of $5,000. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student accepted into the Marketing Honours program who demonstrates the greatest proficiency in their Marketing major units of study.
