Inventors of the CCD honored with Award : Bell Labs, the research and development arm of Lucent Technologies, today announced that Dr. Willard Boyle and Dr. George Smith, both former researchers at Bell Labs, are this year's recipients of one of the highest honors in engineering, the National Academy of Engineering's (NAE) Charles Stark Draper Prize, for their invention and development of the charge-coupled device, or CCD. This award honors engineers whose accomplishments have significantly impacted society. CCD technology, which transforms patterns of light into useful digital information, is the basis for many forms of modern imaging. Today the most noticeable impact is its universal use in digital cameras and video cameras.

Migo Professional Edition awarded by CES : Migo Software announced today that the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) honored the Migo Professional Edition of its software product line with an Innovations 2006 Design and Engineering Award. Migo Software is a trade name of PowerHouse Technologies Group. The Migo Professional Edition mobile computing software was honored in the Software/Embedded Technology category of the prestigious competition, which is sponsored by the CEA and endorsed by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). Honorees were announced in November at the 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) press preview in New York City. The CEA award will be presented at the Las Vegas CES in January.
