PMDA honors photo industry notables : The PhotoImaging Manufacturers & Distributors Association (PMDA) recently presented its prestigious annual PMDA Awards at a gala dinner held at the Caribe Royal Hotel in Orlando during PMA 2006. The Photo Kiosk won “Person of the Year” for its contributions to the rapid increase in photo printing at retail. Accepting the award were a group of kiosk manufacturers and top installing retailers, including Hank Hayashi, Fuji Photo Film, USA; Nikki Zamgrone from Eastman Kodak; Grant Pill, CVS; and Joe Lizuzzo and Sharon Wibben from Walmart. “The Photo Kiosk, while an unconventional pick for Person of the Year, is one of today’s most influential players.

Kodak EasyShare V570 wins Chip Award : Kodak has again been recognized for its product design prowess, marking 10 awards for product design, leadership and innovation since the start of 2006. CHIP, the German personal computing and information technology magazine, has recognized the Kodak EasyShare V570 dual-lens digital camera for innovation, style, and performance. The magazine announced its "CHIP Award for Innovations in Digital Photography" last week at the CeBIT trade fair. In Washington, the new Kodak Scan Station 100 captured the Government Computer News Best of FOSE Award in its debut at the Federal Office Supplies Expo. Kodak Cameras receive 2006 iF Product Design Award : Three digital imaging products from Eastman Kodak Company have received the prestigious iF Seal of Design Excellence, announced this week in Hannover, Germany at the CeBIT 2006 technology fair. The Kodak Directview DR7500 System, along with the Kodak EasyShare P850 and EasyShare P880 digital cameras, earned the highly regarded 2006 iF Product Design honors. Showcased at the annual CeBIT technology fair in Germany, the iF Design exhibition showcases a range of cutting-edge product designs, ranging from cellular phones to sleek luxury sports cars. In 2006, the design organization said, just under 2,000 products submitted from 37 countries competed for an iF award.

Sony DSC-T7 receives iF Gold Award : At the awards ceremony for the iF product design award 2006, held at CeBIT 2006, Sony was a runaway winner scooping 14 iF product design awards, including the prestigious iF gold awards for its Sony DSC-T7. Selected from 1,952 products, entered from 37 countries worldwide, the International Forum Design awarded the coveted iF seal of design excellence to the following Sony products within the category Consumer Electronics/Telecommunications. The Sony T7 which won an iF gold award is measures only 9.8 mm deep at the thinnest point. The shooting-mode settings can easily be controlled using only the left hand, as the relevant buttons are all located on the left-hand side of the camera's rear face.

Kodak's Graphic Communications Group (GCG) received the award on March 3 at NAPL's Top Management Conference in Orlando, Florida.
