Fortune Magazine ranks SanDisk in top 10 : SanDisk Corporation, the world's largest supplier of flash storage card products, announced it has been named to Fortune Magazine's annual list of America's Fastest Growing Companies, ranking 8 out of the 100 companies listed. The list can be found in the September 5, 2005 issue of Fortune Magazine. SanDisk posted record revenues for 2004, with total revenue at $1.8 billion, up 65% from $1.1 billion in 2003. Net income was $267 million, up 58% from net income of $169 million in 2003 and fully diluted earnings per share for fiscal 2004 were $1.44, compared to $1.02 in 2003. The goal of SanDisk is to establish SanDisk as a global consumer-branded powerhouse in the coming decade."

Sony camcorder, projector & printer get EISA award : The European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA), has selected Sony Europe as recipient in four key categories. These EISA awards recognise the significant process that Sony has made in terms of harnessing new generation High Definition (HD), miniature and mobile electronics, integrating them into consumer equipment and creating revolutionary new consumer propositions and possibilities that were previously impossible. The EISA 2005 - 2006 categories awarded to Sony include European High-End Camcorder (Sony HDR-FX1), European High-End Projector (Sony QUALIA 004), European Mini Printer (Sony DPP-FP50) and European Navigation System (Sony KPNC9950).

iView identifies file management as major concern : File management is a major concern of professional photographers. 51 per cent of professional photographers say file management is the greatest challenge associated with digital photography, over a third (35 per cent) of photographers feel the biggest advantage of digital photography is greater control, and one in four (25 per cent) said digital photography's biggest advantage is that it enables greater creativity. Leica will continue with capital increase : Leica Camera AG has achieved a settlement out of court with four plaintiffs in the actions for avoidance, among them Leasing- und Handelsservice Heinrich GmbH (Hettstadt) and EO Investors GmbH. Their actions for avoidance of the capital measures resolved by the General Meeting on May 31, 2005, which had been the subject of the ad hoc announcement of July 15, 2005, have been settled with mutual agreement. The remaining fifth action for avoidance had been brought in an unlawful way. It is expected that the procedure will be closed without further proceedings. Leica Camera AG will publish the invitation to subscribe for the capital increase in the electronic Federal Gazette without delay.

Sony opens mobile electronics technology center : Sony Electronics unveiled its newly relocated Mobile Electronics Technology Center (METC) at its corporate headquarters in San Diego. The METC is a preeminent installation facility used to test Sony's in-car entertainment products, conduct installations for Sony's show vehicles and provide support to all of its authorized dealers. "The Mobile Electronics Technology Center allows Sony to stay in touch with the car audio market and helps us deliver real-time support to our Xplod dealers across the United States," says Andrew Sivori, general manager of Sony's Mobile Electronics division. DigIT Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30 review : Our good friend Kai Thon from the Norwegian based DigIT.no, and one of the founders of DIWA Awards, previewed the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30 digital camera. This new model, just announced a couple of days ago, is the follow-up of the Panasonic Lumix FZ20 model and features a number of modifications resulting in a better performance and more comfort. Among the modifications are separate rings for manual zoom and focus, better wide angle and a f11 minimum aperture. Last week Kai Thon was invited by Panasonic at a press event in Sicily, Italy, where he learned more about the new Panasonic Lumix digital cameras that were introduced some days ago.
