Toshiba new display tecyhnology for 3D images : Toshiba Corporation today announced a new display technology that allows 3D images to be viewed on a flatbed display without any need for special glasses. Viewing the display from an angle allows the viewer to experience 3-D images that stand out several centimeters from the surface of the display. The new technology opens up new areas of application for 3D displays, including arcade games, e-learning, simulations of buildings and landscapes, and even 3D menus in restaurants. Toshiba will continue to refine the technology, including integration of touch-screen control, and plans to commercialize products based on it within two years.

Toshiba Lithium-Ion Battery recharged in 1 minute : Toshiba announced a breakthrough in lithium-ion batteries that makes long recharge times a thing of the past. Toshiba's new battery can recharge 80 percent of the battery's energy capacity in one minute, approximately 60 times faster than the typical Li-ion batteries. The energy density is 150 to 250 Wh (Watt-hour)/liter, equal to the lower range of energy densities existing lithium ion batteries have. Advanced Li-ion rechargeable batteries reach densities of 600 Wh/l. Toshiba's prototype battery has a capacity of 600mAh and measures.8mm thick, 62mm high and 35mm deep. It was demonstrated in hard disc music player for about 10 minutes by charging 5 milliwatts in 5 seconds.

Toshiba 2MP CMOS Image Sensor Chip introduction : Toshiba America Electronic Components today announced the availability of a new 2 Megapixel CMOS image sensor chip targeted at high-end camera-enabled mobile handset applications, including Smartphones. Designated ET8EA3-AS, the new chip has a small 3.3 micron (um) x 3.3um pixel size with a 1/2.7-inch optical format and incorporates an analog-to-digital (A/D) converter. TAEC will be showing working samples at the Embedded Systems Conference here this week. "With the launch of our new 2 Megapixel ET8EA3-AS CMOS image sensor, Toshiba can support the higher-resolution camera requirements of cell phone manufacturers," said Andrew Burt, director of the Wireless Business Unit at TAEC.
