Texas Instruments mobile electronic components : Texas Instruments announced today a high-power, white LED power conversion chip for next-generation camera phones and PDAs. TI's TPS61059 single-cell white LED driver is optimized to safely and efficiently support up to 800 mA over the input voltage range of a single-cell Lithium-Ion battery. Based on 650 kHz pulse width modulation (PWM) controller, the device can achieve an 80% maximum efficiency. To further max battery life, the TPS61059 can be disabled and placed in a shutdown mode where the power is disconnected to the LED and current consumption reduced to less than 1 uA. Built-in pre-charge and soft-start circuitry prevents excessive current to build during start-up.
