The Dutch foundation's mission is to encourage high professional standards in photojournalism on a wide international scale. The anniversary weekend focuses on the past, present and future of press photography. Many premier award winners, former jury members and key industry representatives will travel to Amsterdam to take part in the celebrations. The initial World Press Photo contest was held and the first exhibition opened in December 1955 in Amsterdam. This one-off event soon became an annual fixture and today, World Press Photo organizes the biggest and most prestigious photography contest in the world.

Sony CCD image sensor faulty : It has recently come to our attention that a limited number of Sony Digital Still Cameras that incorporate an image sensor device, CCD Chip, manufactured from October 2002 through March 2004 may exhibit the following condition: When the Digital Still Camera is used in camera mode, the LCD panel or electronic viewfinder will show either a distorted image or no image. We have determined that this condition only occurs to a limited number of units. Accordingly, customers who have a Sony Digital Still Camera as outlined below and if said Sony Still Camera exhibits the above-mentioned condition caused by the image sensor device, CCD chip, may contact the special call center set forth below for free repair.
