Eddy Hartenstein to SanDisk board of directors : SanDisk Corporation, the world's largest supplier of flash storage card products, today announced the appointment of Eddy W. Hartenstein to its board of directors. Mr. Hartenstein will commence service immediately. "Eddy's leadership and passion in forming the direct broadcast satellite business has provided him with a unique understanding of new market creation. The guidelines aim to clarify issues affecting accurate reproduction and management of digital image files. Although they largely reflect a photographer’s perspective, anyone working with digital images should find them useful. The guidelines have the following primary goals: First; Digital images look the same as they transfer between devices, platforms and vendors. Second; Digital images are prepared in the correct resolution, at the correct size, for the device(s) on which they will be viewed or printed.

Digital technology market value is growing : Innovative devices with digital technologies are leading to a rapid growth of film, music and image-based, like photography and other Consumer Electronics market segments in Western Europe. According to the European Information Technology Observatory (EITO) the market value is growing by 9.2% in 2005 to an overall value of 54.2 billion Euro. “Digital devices are offering a substantial increase in value for the user“, says EITO Chair Bruno Lamborghini. „More storage, higher capacity and better quality in image and sound are convincing arguments for purchase.“ Accordingly, digital products like flat screen TVs, MP3 players or game consoles show double digit growth rates.

Photographer Patrick Lichfield died : Thomas Patrick John Anson, 5th Earl of Lichfield was a professional photographer who inherited the Earldom of Lichfield from his paternal grandfather, but did not use his title in his professional practise, where he was known as Patrick Lichfield. With a string of titles and photographic achievements to his name, Patrick Lichfield is one of the most highly acclaimed photographers of all time. Whilst he himself represents part of British royal heritage, he remains a professional, and has undertaken the photography of every European royal family. His most famous commission came from The Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer when he was appointed as their official photographer.
