Sharp dual function LCD development

Dennis Hissink : 2005-07-27 13:10:26
Sharp dual function LCD development : Sharp Corporation and Sharp Laboratories of Europe, Ltd. have developed a new LCD, which can simultaneously display different information and image content in right and left views in a single unit by directionally controlling the viewing angle of the LCD. This feature makes it possible to provide information and content tailored to specific users depending on the angle at which they view the screen. Volume production of the LCD will begin in July 2005. Increasingly wider viewing angles in LCDs have made possible clear, highly readable displays without loss of image quality no matter what direction the display is viewed from, and mean that several users can view an LCD simultaneously.

Dennis Hissink : 2005-07-27 13:07:07
Sharp switchable viewing angle LCD development : Sharp Corporation and Sharp Laboratories of Europe, Ltd. have developed a new LCD, which enables the LCD to be switched between a wide viewing angle and narrow viewing angle by means of an electrical ON/OFF switching action. This will allow people to view email and other private information on portable devices such as mobile phones and notebook PCs with peace of mind without having to worry about others in the vicinity snooping to peek at what is being displayed on the LCD screen. Sharp will begin mass production of this display beginning in July 2005. The switchable LCD is sure to contribute to increasing demand as an indispensable component of mobile devices.
