Samsung SCH-B200 satellite DMB phone introduction : Samsung Electronics will showcase its third satellite Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) phone (SCH-B200) at MIPTV/MILIA in Cannes, France from April 11 to 15, following the release of the SCH-B100 and SCH-B130. Samsung’s new B200 boasts a horizontal screen that allows users not only to benefit from easier viewing of DMB services, but also to comfortably enjoy multimedia functions, such as photography and games. In addition, it is the first model to adopt Samsung’s innovative “slide and rotation” form factor, where the screen slides up and rotates horizontally, further enhancing user convenience.

Samsung mobile camera phone with JPEG file viewer : Samsung Electronics introduces its first "file viewer" phones (models SPH-V6500 and SCH-V650) that allow users to view documents and images over the mobile phone. The phones are expected to enhance the productivity of businesspeople who are constantly on the go, but need to view business-critical information, such as PDF files, at any time and any place. Data can be easily downloaded onto the phones in its original file format through a PC connection, similar to an external storage device. Microsoft Word and Excel files can be viewed, as well as PDF, JPG, and TXT files. The phones feature a 1.3 megapixel camera with a 16 million-color LCD.

The Samsung SCH-V600 camera phone boasts a more compact design and improved features while maintaining the basic product concept of its popular predecessor, the Samsung SCH-V500. The Samsung V500 camera phone took the market by storm with its first-ever innovative pivotal LCD screen which allows users to view images and video files horizontally. The product won the Presidential Award at the Good Design Competition held by the Korea Institute of Design Promotion in October 2004.

Samsung MMCmicro flash card mass production : Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the leader in advanced semiconductor technology, announced today that it has begun mass-production of the smallest memory card available for mobile phones. The Samsung MMCmicro device can read data at 10MBps (megabytes per second) and write at 7MBps, which is 3.5 times faster than that of competing flash memory cards. The new thumbnail-sized Samsung memory card, designed specifically for mobile phones with advanced multimedia features, is one-third as large (12x14x1.1mm) as the reduced size multimedia card (RS-MMC) available today and can support four NAND Flash memory chips, enabling higher performance.
