Samsung Digimax S500 : The Korean website of Samsung gives us some information about a new digital camera. In Korea Samsung introduces their digital cameras under the name Kenox. In Europe or US we are familiar with the name Digimax. The Samsung Digimax S500 digital camera features a 5.3 Megapixel 1/2.5" CCD, effective resolution 5.1 Megapixels and 5,8 - 17,4mm (equivalent with film 35 mm: 35 - 105mm) zoom lens. The Samsung S500 is an entry level digital camera featuring Programmed EA metering, still images of 5 Megapixels with three compression settings (Super fine, Fine, Normal). Video clips with or without audio can be recorder in a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels (VGA) with a frame rate of 30fps.

Samsung GX1 slr : Rumors informs us that the cooperation between Pentax and Samsung already start working. As to several resources we may expect a brand new digital SLR camera under the brand name of Samsung: Samsung GX1. As to unofficial information the Samsung GX 1 d-SLR camera will be based on the Pentax *istDL camera. Specifications are not unveiled yet, but as to the lenses we all know that Pentax possesses a wide range of high-performance interchangeable lenses which is perfect for a brand to start with. Although the details about the image sensor are not specified, we may assume 6 Megapixels to start with. We welcome a new brand within the digital SLR market using well-known digital SLR knowledge from a brand like Pentax.

Samsung Electronics develops largest flexible LCD panel : Samsung Electronics, announced today that it has developed the world’s largest transmissive TFT LCD (thin-film transistor, liquid crystal display), with sufficiently high resolution to display digital television content.The seven-inch, 640x480 (VGA-standard) flexible display uses a transparent plastic substrate that is thinner, lighter and more durable than the conventional LCD glass panels used today. Moreover, the full-color transmissive LCD panel maintains a constant thickness even when it is bent. Considered the next-generation in flat panel displays, this technology involves the use of pliable plastic instead of rigid glass substrates in TFT-LCD production.

Samsung camera with mobile TV : Samsung Techwin, Korea’s biggest producer of digital cameras, plans to equip the cameras with a mobile TV and a function to play movies downloaded from computers. "We will release the versatile digital camera early next year after terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) services are launched," Samsung Techwin spokesman Ahn Ji-hoon Saturday told The Korea Times. Terrestrial DMB is the locally developed technology that enables people on the move to enjoy crystal-clear video, CD-quality audio and data via handheld gadgets or in-car terminals for free. Up until now, mobile phones or laptops have been the devices capable of receiving the DMB signals.

Samsung Flash Memory SIM card for 3G mobile phones : Samsung Electronics today announced the introduction of a 2MB flash memory-embedded smart card IC (S3FJ91L), raising the bar even higher by doubling the data storage capabilities. Samsung's new 2MB smart card IC meets all the industry requirements for 3G multimedia handsets by enabling higher memory density for SMS, camera functions, telephone directory, games and Internet services as well as its typical subscriber identification function. The new Samsung SIM card IC will be demonstrated at the Cartes 2005. The speed and reliability of user identification in the S3FJ91L is guaranteed by ARM-based 32bit SC200 Secure Core, a 3-DES encryption standard and a PKI crypto processor.

Samsung OneNAND flash production : Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the leader in advanced semiconductor technology, today announced that it now is producing more than three million units of its OneNAND Flash fusion memory per month, an 86 percent increase in production volume from four months ago. The monthly volume amounts to the equivalent of about 2.9 billion megabits (Mb). "OneNAND is the fastest growing product line of any device in the Samsung memory portfolio. It has met with an extremely positive reception by offering sharply higher performance and significantly lower overall cost than other memory solutions," said Don Barnetson, associate director, Flash marketing, Samsung Semiconductor, Inc.

Samsung belongs to best consumer electronics brand : In a survey of the top 100 global brands, BusinessWeek magazine & Interbrand Consultancy have valued Samsung's brand at $14.9 billion in 2005, making it the world's topmost consumer electronics brand, a position long held by more entrenched player Sony. Furthermore, Samsung's brand, now ranked at No. 20 position among the top 100 global brands, has posted the biggest gain in value of any global brand with a 186 per cent surge over the past five years. The report, considered to be one of the most prestigious global brand studies, states that Samsung's key success factor was its strategy to build a strong, single brand experience coupled with innovating cool-design digital products.
