Samsung 70nm 4GB NAND flash memory introduction

Mark Peters : 2005-06-06 23:00:00
Samsung 70nm 4GB NAND flash memory introduction : Samsung Electronics Co., the leader in advanced semiconductor technology, today announced that it has begun mass producing the highest density NAND flash device yet to take advantage of advanced 70-nanometer process technology; 4-Gigabit (Gb) NAND flash memory. The faster technology offers larger storage densities for consumer and mobile applications at more affordable pricing. Samsung’s 4Gb NAND flash memory was first developed in September 2003. Following the New Memory Growth Model of double density growth every 12 months (conceived by Dr. Chang Gyu Hwang, president and CEO of Samsung Electronics Semiconductor Business).

Samsung Solid State Disk (SSD) based on NAND Flash

Ilse Jurriën : 2005-05-23 23:59:59
Samsung Solid State Disk based on NAND Flash : Samsung Electronics, the leader in advanced semiconductor technology, today announced that it has developed the first Solid State Disk (SSD) based on NAND Flash memory technology. The NAND-based SSD is a low power, lightweight storage media for notebook PCs, sub-notebook PCs and tablet PCs. Using the industry's highest density 8Gb (Gigabit) NAND Flash, Samsung can build SSDs with a capacity of up to 16GB. The SSD has a power consumption rate less than five percent of today's hard disk drives (HDDs), enabling next generation mobile PCs to extend their battery life by more than 10 percent. The NAND-based SSD weighs less than half that of a comparably sized HDD.

Samsung SLC NAND Flash Memory technology

Mark Peters : 2005-04-13 13:00:00
Samsung SLC NAND Flash Memory technology : Witnessing growing interest in its Single Level Cell (SLC) based Flash solutions for industrial applications, Samsung Electronics, the leader in advanced semiconductor technology, is fortifying its relationships with major solid-state storage suppliers whose use of Samsung SLC technology has made Samsung the leading memory supplier across the industrial sector. Samsung's SLC NAND Flash technology provides enhanced performance and proven industrial-grade reliability for embedded and industrial applications. SLC NAND Flash memory is faster, higher performing, more power-efficient, and will last up to ten times as long as competing multi-level cell Flash memory.

Samsung MMCmicro flash card mass production

Dennis Hissink : 2005-03-24 18:05:49
Samsung MMCmicro flash card mass production : Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the leader in advanced semiconductor technology, announced today that it has begun mass-production of the smallest memory card available for mobile phones. The Samsung MMCmicro device can read data at 10MBps (megabytes per second) and write at 7MBps, which is 3.5 times faster than that of competing flash memory cards. The new thumbnail-sized Samsung memory card, designed specifically for mobile phones with advanced multimedia features, is one-third as large (12x14x1.1mm) as the reduced size multimedia card (RS-MMC) available today and can support four NAND Flash memory chips, enabling higher performance.

Samsung 1 Gigabit mobile DRAM introduction

Mark Peters : 2005-03-24 02:00:00
Samsung 1Gigabit mobile DRAM : Samsung Electronics, leader in advanced semiconductor technology, today demonstrated the world's first 1 Gigabit (Gb) mobile DRAM, and unveiled five other leading-edge mobile technologies that underscore its leadership in driving innovation and efficiency within the mobile industry. The advancements announced included a System-in-Package (SiP) with a 300MHz mobile CPU, a 1Gigabit (Gb) NAND flash memory, a 56Megabit (Mb) mobile DRAM, a 260K color display driver IC (DDI) for active matrix OLEDs (organic light emitting diodes), a quad video graphics array (QVGA) resolution one-chip DDI, and a 2.5-inch QVGA thin-film-transistor, liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) for MP3 players.
