Nikon EN-EL3 battery recall

Dennis Hissink : 2005-11-08 09:11:12
Nikon EN-EL3 battery recall : Through strict quality control procedures Nikon has detected that on rare occasions some rechargeable Li-ion batteries of the type EN-EL3 for Nikon Digital SLR cameras may become defective, resulting in an overheating during recharging. Investigations have clarified that the cause of the defect is not a design fault, but has resulted from a temporary problem in a manufacturing process that occurred during the production of this battery type between May and September 2004. In the interests of its customers and as a reflection of Nikon’s commitment to safety and product quality, the company has initiated a voluntary recall and replacement program of all EN-EL3 batteries manufactured during this period.

Photojournalist Essdras M. Suarez honored

Dennis Hissink : 2005-03-04 20:00:08
Essdras M. Suarez honored : It's often said that patience is a virtue. With so many photographers rushing to just get a shot that fits, patience is virtually non-existent in the fast-paced world of photojournalism. However, it's this illusive patience, and an unquenchable curiosity, that is often credited as the secret behind the success to one of America's brightest photojournalists, Essdras M. Suarez. This March, NikonNet's inspiring monthly, "Legends Behind the Lens," honors the work of Pulitzer Prize winning photojournalist Essdras M. Suarez, who currently works for the Boston Globe. To learn more about Essdras Suarez log onto NikonNet's "Legends Behind the Lens" series at http://www.nikonnet.com/legends.

Nikon Legends: John Huet, in the Moment

Dennis Hissink : 2005-01-03 20:00:06
"Are you making this up as you go along?" The question came from an assistant John Huet hired for a shoot in San Francisco. John's answer was, "Absolutely. I do my best work that way." John was in the middle of the first day of shooting for a major ad campaign, and the assistant, who had never worked with him before, was puzzled by John's approach. "We had certain situations the client wanted to cover," John says, "but within the general idea - which was to photograph a tennis serve - I could do whatever I wanted. So I shot three different variations with different backgrounds, different angles, different lighting techniques. That's my favorite way to work."
