Baby Photo Contest launched by Nikon : Attention moms, dads, grandparents, aunts and uncles! If your bouncing baby is the "pride and joy" of your family, then they have a chance at being selected as the 2006 Nikon Coolpix Pride and Joy Baby. One lucky baby will win a $25,000 US Savings Bond toward their future college education and an appearance in a Nikon advertorial in LIFE magazine, while all the finalists will take home great digital camera prize packages, all courtesy of Nikon. Beginning October 17, 2005, photos of your "pride and joy" can be submitted on the Web at Prideandjoybaby.com where you will also find digital photography information and photo tips on taking great pictures of your baby.

Nikon Small World photography contest 2005 : Bristling with sensitive antennae, bulbous eyes with 4,000 lenses, and a mouth that sucks up food using a pump in its head, the common housefly is one of 119,500 known species of fly, and this year's winning image in Nikon's Small World competition. Founded in 1975 to recognize photography through the microscope, the competition is the forum for celebrating the beauty and complexity of objects seen through the light microscope. The Nikon Competition is open to anyone with an interest in photomicrography. Participants may submit their images in traditional 35mm format, or digital. The first and second of twenty prizewinners will receive a selection of Nikon products and equipment.
