Nokia N70 multimedia 3G smartphone introduction : Nokia today introduced the Nokia N70 multimedia, a beautifully designed, compact and easy-to-use 3G smartphone with versatile mobile photography, personal productivity and entertainment features. Incorporating a complete smartphone feature set, as well as a 2 megapixel camera, flash and front camera for video calling, the Nokia N70 comes fully equipped with stereo FM radio, a digital music player and new 3D games. Measuring just 108.8 x 53 x 17.5 mm (95.9 cc), the Nokia N70 is the smallest ever 2 megapixel 3G smartphone based on the Series 60 Platform. The Nokia N70 is expected to be available in the third quarter of 2005, a variant for EDGE markets will be available at a later date.

The two companies will bring the design expertise and stringent quality requirements of Carl Zeiss to Nokia's product creation process for high-end camera devices. As a result of the collaboration, consumers will be able to capture, share, store and print better quality images with Nokia's flagship imaging devices. Both parties regard this agreement as the beginning of a long-term relationship. The first Nokia product to incorporate Carl Zeiss optics and carry the ZEISS brand is the Nokia N90 Multimedia.

Motorola first videophone call over satellite : Motorola and WorldGate today announced they conducted the first true-to-life videophone call over satellite broadband network connections, demonstrating that no distance is too great for the Motorola Ojo Personal Videophone to bridge. Motorola and WorldGate originated Ojo videophone calls from WorldGate's Philadelphia-area headquarters to a facility in Virginia Beach, ultimately beaming the calls to a commercially available VSAT satellite orbiting 22,500 miles above Earth and back-a round trip of 45,000 miles. Ojo performed flawlessly, connecting the parties, and enabling a true-to-life personal exchange with stunning picture quality and perfectly synchronized audio and video.

Sony Ericsson’s new Bluetooth controlled camera, ROB-1, can move around freely, steered wirelessly by the joy-stick or keypad on your mobile phone or as for P900/P910 with the touch screen, enabling you to see on your phone screen exactly what ROB-1 is looking at. You can then capture these images using your phone just as you would a normal photo. Visitors to Sony Ericsson’s stand at CeBIT can be first to try the Bluetooth Motion Cam ROB-1 when it makes its debut at the exhibition. The Bluetooth Motion Cam ROB-1 will be available during Q3 2005.

Samsung mobile camera phone with JPEG file viewer : Samsung Electronics introduces its first "file viewer" phones (models SPH-V6500 and SCH-V650) that allow users to view documents and images over the mobile phone. The phones are expected to enhance the productivity of businesspeople who are constantly on the go, but need to view business-critical information, such as PDF files, at any time and any place. Data can be easily downloaded onto the phones in its original file format through a PC connection, similar to an external storage device. Microsoft Word and Excel files can be viewed, as well as PDF, JPG, and TXT files. The phones feature a 1.3 megapixel camera with a 16 million-color LCD.
