Olympus ZUIKO Digital ED 8mm lens introduction

Dennis Hissink : 2005-06-30 09:00:00
Olympus ZUIKO Digital ED 8mm lens introduction : Olympus Imaging Corporation is pleased to announce the introduction of the Olympus ZUIKO Digital ED 8mm F3.5 Fisheye, the first fixed-focal fisheye lens in the Olympus ZUIKO Digital series. The new lens will go on sale in January 2006. Olympus ZUIKO Digital lenses, designed specifically for use with digital SLR cameras, comply with the Four Thirds System (received the DIWA Gold Award in 2004), and are able to exploit the full power of the CCD in the Olympus E-1 launched in 2003 and E-300 introduced in December 2004. The Olympus ZUIKO Digital ED 8mm (16mm with 35mm camera) F3.5 Fisheye has a 180º field of view diagonal to the image sensor.

Sigma 30mm f1.4 EX lens availability

Dennis Hissink : 2005-06-27 18:50:00
Sigma 30mm f1.4 EX lens availability: The large aperture Sigma 30mm F1.4 EX DC HSM lens is designed to match the APS-C size image sensors of digital SLR cameras. Two SLD glass elements are especially effective in the compensation of magnification chromatic aberration. Glass mold aspherical lens at rear group of lens reduces color aberration and provides high-quality image results. From 40cm minimum focusing distance to infinity, this lens creates very sharp images with high contrast. The HSM models provide quiet high-speed auto-focus shooting, as well as full-time manual focus. Large Maximum Aperture of F1.4 can perform in a great range of applications, including snapshots, portraiture, indoor shooting and landscape photography.

Rollei 50mm f2.8 lens introduction

Mark Peters : 2005-06-25 16:00:00
Rollei 50mm f2.8 lens introduction : Rollei, manufacturer of the classic twin-lens 6x6 Rolleiflex, announced a new Schneider-Kreuznach high speed, versatile AF lens for the Rollei 6008 family of high-end professional cameras. The ruggedly built AF Super-Angulon HFT PQS interchangeable auto focus lens features a high speed f/2.8 lens for a brilliant viewfinder image and a classical 50 mm wide-angle focal length. The new high performance lens will be available beginning this week in the U.S. for $4,499. The AF Super-Angulon is the fourth AF lens launched by Rollei for their Rolleiflex 6008 AF cameras. The 6008 AF is Rollei’s top-of-the-line offering in a family of products Rollei is rolling out in the U.S.

Leica APO Summicron-M f2.75mm ASPH lens

Ilse Jurriën : 2005-05-25 21:14:19
Leica APO Summicron-M f2.75mm ASPH lens : Leica Camera has added a compact medium telephoto to its range of lenses for Leica rangefinder cameras. The Leica APO Summicron-M f2.75mm ASPH is the first lens of this focal length class to feature a floating element: During focusing, the last lens element change their position in relation to the rest of the optical system. The Leica Summicron-M f2.75mm is thus able to offer superlative quality in the close-focus range down to 0.7 meters. To take full advantage of the floating element, a highly precise adjustment mechanism has been used, although finding the space for it in a compact M lens was no easy feat! The natural perspective of the 75mm focal length enables true-to-life rendering.

Revolutionary lens 5x thinner than sheet of paper

Mark Peters : 2005-05-24 21:50:00
Revolutionary lens 5x thinner than a sheet of paper : Scientists from Université Laval’s Faculty of Sciences and Engineering have invented a lens five times thinner than a sheet of paper that is able to zoom in and out without mechanical parts. Tigran Galstian and Vladimir Presnyakov present this amazing piece of optical instrumentation in the latest issue of the Journal of Applied Physics. "There are several possible applications for such a lens. We believe one of its most promising developments could be in camera-embedded cell phones," says Galstian. "Our opto-electrical zoom lens would be of much higher quality than the ones that currently equip these phones."

Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 EX DG HSM lens introduction

Ilse Jurriën : 2005-05-23 23:15:11
Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 EX DG HSM : Sigma is pleased to announce the launch of the new Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 EX DG HSM lens, a digitally optimised telephoto zoom lens covering ultra-telephoto up to 300mm with a fast maximum aperture of F2.8 at all focal lengths. This lens represents a revolutionary leap forward in ease of use. This was achieved by transforming a large-aperture 300mm F2.8 lens into a zoom lens that allows you to determine the picture composition you want without having to change your vantage point. It has two SLD (the special low dispersion) glass elements in front group and another element of SLD is being used for rear group for excellent correction of chromatic aberration.

Sigma 300mm F2.8 APO EX DG HSM lens introduction

Mark Peters : 2005-05-21 19:02:41
Sigma 300mm F2.8 APO EX DG HSM lens : The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the launch of the new 300mm F2.8 APO EX DG HSM lens. A versatile, fast aperture telephoto lens for both digital and film SLR cameras. Two ELD glass elements reduce chromatic aberration to a minimum and also ensure sharp, quality images of high contrast. The new multi layer lens coating reduces flare and ghosting, which is a common problem with digital SLR cameras. The overall length of the lens does not change during focusing, ensuring convenient handling and ease of use. The new Sigma lens accepts both 1.4x and 2.0x EX Teleconverters to produce 420mm F4 and 600mm F5.6 Autofocus ultra telephoto optics.

Sigma 50-500mm F4-6.3 EX DG HSM lens

Mark Peters : 2005-05-19 23:00:15
Sigma 50-500mm F4-6.3 EX DG HSM lens : Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the launch of the new 50-500 F4-6.3 EX DG HSM lens. This high zoom ratio lens is optimized for digital SLR cameras and capable of covering a wide range of focal lengths from 50mm standard to 500mm ultra telephoto. This ultra-zoom lens employs a seven-group zoom system, which provides a high zoom magnification of 10x. Triple-cam Rear Focusing System ensures high precision throughout the whole focus range. The new lens coating reduces flare and ghost, which is a common problem of digital cameras and also creates an optimum color balance. This lens uses four pieces of SLD (the special low dispersion) glass for excellent correction of color aberration.
