Olympus ZUIKO 7-14mm lens at CeBIT 2005 : Some weeks ago when we attended the PMA show in Orlando, US, we already seen this new baby. At CeBIT Olympus had the new Olympus ZUIKO 7-14mm lens mounted on the Olympus E-300 and showed the set to us. This new lens is actually designed for use by pros. The Olympus ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 7-14mm 1:4.0, or just Olympus ZUIKO 7-14mm, attracts photographers who are looking for ultra-wide-angle shooting capabilities. Those super wide angle lenses are used to create dramatic expressive compositions. With a focal length beginning at merely 7mm, which is equivalent to 14mm on a 35mm camera, it offers a 114 degree angle of view. Actually Olympus has the world's widest for digital zoom lenses in its hands!

Konica Minolta DT lenses introduction : Konica Minolta Photo Imaging U.S.A., Inc., announces the development of three new "DT" lenses , interchangeable Digital technology (DT) lenses designed for the Dynax Series digital SLR cameras, including the Konica Minolta Dynax 7D DSLR camera. These new Konica Minolta zoom lenses will expand the line-up of Konica Minolta interchangeable lenses for Konica Minolta Dynax Series cameras. The Konica Minolta DT Lenses employ a new optical system that is specifically designed for digital SLR cameras, including the Konica Minolta Dynax 7D, which incorporate an APS-C size CCD image sensor. Plans are to launch these Digital Technology (DT) Lenses worldwide in the fall of 2005.

During my conversation with Christina Blake, Group Leader External and Internal Communication Corporate & Imaging Systems Europe Marketing Communications, we discussed the latest introductions. I was most interested in the new Olympus ZUIKO lenses but unfortunately it was still too early to see them in action. The introduction of the three new Olympus ZUIKO lenses, with a catching f2.0 bright on the entire focal length, is a welcoming introduction for the Olympus E-System. The high standard of optical performance which has to be reached by this new series lenses, will meet the requirements of the most demanding professional photographer. Who wouldn't get excited learning about the introduction of of the Olympus Digital....


Around the world with Sigma lenses

During our visit to the Sigma booth on PMA 2005, held in sunny Orlando - Florida, we spoke to Michiro Yamaki, President of Sigma Japan and Kazuto Yamaki. Just before the PMA 2005 kicked off, Sigma introduced a number of new lenses and adjusted a large amount of existing lenses in order to make them suitable for the digital reflex camera. Suspicion had raised amongst the passionate Sigma followers, that Sigma had taken a number of lenses with a fixed focal length out of production and at the same time decreased their assortment of lenses. But nothing like that, in fact the opposite happened: Sigma jumped on the growing market segment of digital reflex cameras, and equipped a huge amount of lenses with DG EX features.
