The Kodak EasyShare-One is equipped with e-mail and online picture sharing, so when using the resort's T-Mobile hotspot, Hyatt guests can effortlessly share their instant memories with messages via e-mail and upload them to the Gallery. An alternative to postcards that usually arrive days after the vacation is over, the EasyShare-One camera provides a real-time, personal message that says "I miss you," or "look what your missing" without the wait.

Kodak mammography CAD software enhancements : Eastman Kodak Company today announced it has obtained FDA approval for enhancements to its mammography computer-aided detection (CAD) system. New software for the Kodak Mammography CAD System increases the system’s sensitivity to microcalcification clusters while reducing the number of false positive markers. The enhanced software is now available. This is the first update to software for the CAD system, which was launched only ten months ago. Existing customers receive software upgrades as part of Kodak’s standard one-year warranty. "Kodak is pleased to provide another digital tool in the fight against breast cancer," said Wido Menhardt, General Manager of the Kodak CAD Business.

ImageLink compatible cameras and printers hit the market : One year after the announcement of the ImageLink print system - a specification designed to simplify at-home picture printing - new cameras and printers supporting the standard are being released. Joining a host of Kodak EasyShare cameras and printer docks already released this year, Olympus has announced the Camedia C315 zoom digital camera, the Olympus D555 zoom digital camera and ILP-100 printer dock which are all ImageLink compatible. "Since the ImageLink print system was announced last September by Kodak and a group of the world’s largest consumer digital photography companies, the response has been overwhelming,” said Yusuke Kojima, vice president Kodak Japan Ltd.

Pursuant to a restructuring program and consistent with marketplace demand, current actions include: Consolidate color photographic paper manufacturing for USA at plants in Windsor and Harrow, England, resulting in the closure of an operation in Rochester by the end of October. Kodak EasyShare digital cameras ranked highest : Solidifying its reputation for quality and ease of use among consumers, Eastman Kodak Company today again captured the highest rankings in two of the four segments in the J.D. Power and Associates 2005 Digital Camera Satisfaction Study. In the second annual consumer study evaluating digital camera performance, connectivity, cost and appearance, Kodak EasyShare digital still cameras ranked highest in customer satisfaction in two price categories: $200-399 and $199 or less. This is the second year in a row that Kodak has captured the coveted $200-399 price segment. Digital cameras in these two segments comprise more than 85 percent of the U.S. market, according to NPD Techworld.

This brings to more than 15 the number of display manufacturers licensing Kodak's passive matrix organic display technology. "We believe OLED display's brightness and readability will add value to the products we make," said Jae Hwal Yoo, chief executive officer of Orion OLED. "Kodak's experience and leadership in OLED materials and displays were important considerations in our decision to license its technology." Orion OLED manufactures OLED panels and module displays for a variety of consumer products, including digital cameras, cellular phones and MP3 players.

Kodak shipped the most digital cameras in the USA : Eastman Kodak Co., which shipped more digital cameras in the United States in 2004 than any of its Japanese rivals, retained its edge in the first quarter, a market research firm said Monday. Kodak shipped 900,000 point-shoot digital cameras to domestic retailers in the January-to-March quarter - 41 per cent more than in the first quarter of 2004 - and its market share rose to 20.4 per cent from 18.1 per cent a year ago, according to IDC, based in Framingham, Mass. Canon strengthened to a second-place ranking with 850,000 shipments, up 72 per cent from a year ago. Its slice of the U.S. market surged from 14 per cent to 19.3 per cent, IDC said.

Kodak announced on January 31 that it had entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Creo, a premier supplier of prepress systems used by commercial printers worldwide. Based in Vancouver, Canada, Creo is the world’s No. 1 provider of workflow software used by printers to manage efficiently the movement of text, graphics and images from the computer screen to the printing press.The shareholders of Creo approved the transaction on March 29. Lyra Research: Women prefer Kodak digital cameras : According to Lyra Research's 2004 U.S. Digital Photography Survey, more than 20 percent of women surveyed use a Kodak digital camera, while only 10 percent of men made Kodak their brand of choice. Men appear to prefer Canon digital cameras, with almost 17 percent of male respondents using that brand. "The explanation is that women in general are less comfortable with technology and therefore are more attracted to trusted brands," says Charles LeCompte, president of Lyra and director of Lyra's Digital Photography Advisory Service. "And the biggest brand in photography is, of course, Kodak."
