Big Christmas card delivered to the Queen of England : The Queen of England has received the largest Christmas card ever to be sent to the Royal family. The huge 9ft x 5ft card was hand-delivered to Buckingham Palace by a group of young children from NCH, the children’s charity. The Big Christmas card was received by Palace footmen on behalf of the Royal family. The giant Christmas card contains festive digital photos from thousands of British people across the country, and also features goodwill messages from Britons to the Royal family. Photo expert HP spent the last two months collecting the photos and messages as part of their “Colourful Christmas” charity fundraising effort for NCH, the Children’s Charity.

HP and Seiko to develop large format printers : Seiko I Infotech today announced they have signed an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement to jointly develop and market low solvent-based large-format printers intended primarily for the outdoor graphics printing market. The multi-year agreement allows HP to expand its product portfolio for graphics customers who need to produce moderate volumes of high-quality and highly durable outdoor applications such as signs, banners and vehicle graphics. Seiko will develop the new printers exclusively for HP using its extensive expertise and technology. Marketing, sales, distribution and supplies will be handled by HP. First products are expected to become available in 2006.


HP acquires the assets of Scitex Vision

HP acquires the assets of Scitex Vision : HP today announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire substantially all of the assets of Scitex Vision, a market leader in super-wide digital printing, for $230 million from Scitex Corporation Ltd. The acquisition expands HP's leadership in large-format printing into the industrial super-wide category and strengthens its position as a one-stop partner for providers of print services. Scitex Vision is a market leader in wide and super-wide format printers for signage and industrial applications, such as billboards, banners, street advertising and packaging. Headquartered in Netanya, Israel, the company had revenue of $142 million for the one-year period ending June 30, 2005.

HP breakthrough ink based printing platform : HP today announced a breakthrough ink-based printing platform, the result of a five-year, $1.4 billion strategic investment that the company believes will catapult its leadership in the printer market years ahead of its competitors. At a press conference here, HP unveiled its first products built on the new scalable printing technology, which is designed specifically to deliver high-performance printing for high-volume users. These include the world's fastest home photo printing devices - 4 x 6-inch digital photos in as fast as 14 seconds, speed comparisons in default and fastest modes, when printing from a computer, based upon HP internal testing of comparable consumer photo printing.

HP and Magic Johnson Foundation team up : HP and the Magic Johnson Foundation today brought their national community technology initiative aimed at bridging the digital divide to New Orleans with the opening of the 20th Magic Johnson/HP Inventor Center at Kingsley House. The Inventor Center in New Orleans joins 19 others in 16 cities around the country offering training, skills development and online access for youth and adult residents in underserved communities. Since the launch of the program, Magic Johnson/HP Inventor Centers have opened in Atlanta, Bladensburg, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Houston, Jacksonville, Fla., Lansing, Mich., Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Oakland, Calif., Philadelphia, Seattle and Washington D.C.

HP sponsors photo exhibit for the United Nations : HP is helping the United Nations celebrate its 60th anniversary by sponsoring a photo exhibit of UN archival photographs at the public lobby of the UN's New York headquarters. The exhibit features 60 unique and rarely seen prints from the UN Photo Library produced on HP Designjet 5500 large-format printers using HP supplies and media. The historic visual display commemorates the signing of the UN Charter in San Francisco in 1945 and contains archival photographs from the UN Photo Library that focus primarily on the early founding years of the organization. Content was developed by the UN Photo Library, Media Division and the UN Exhibits Unit in cooperation with HP.


HP & InkCycle resolved patent infringement lawsuit

HP & InkCycle resolved patent infringement lawsuit : HP and InkCycle today announced that they have resolved their patent infringement lawsuit regarding the inks used in the refilling of certain HP inkjet cartridges. Under the terms of the confidential agreement, InkCycle has agreed to acquire re-formulated, non-infringing ink sets for three InkCycle products and has agreed to pay HP an undisclosed sum. The lawsuit was initially filed in March 2005 after HP discovered that refilled inkjet cartridges sold under the Staples brand contained patent-infringing ink. "HP will continue to invest in technology that benefits consumers and to aggressively protect this investment," said Pradeep Jotwani.
