Photokina 2006 : Although there are nearly 12 months to go before Photokina 2006 takes place, the World of Imaging is already taking shape. The first highlight of the supporting program has already been finalized: the new Hall 1 (formerly Hall 4) will become a meeting place for imaging professionals from around the world. The Visual Gallery and the Meet the Professionals sections will be set up here. One new feature will be a forum for international image agencies. The supporting program of Photokina 2006 show will serve as a platform for international image agencies, specialist archives and news photo agencies to showcase their services to artists and art buyers from publishing houses, advertising agencies and the industrial sector.

Canon lens technology receives Emmy award : Canon received an Emmy Award last night at the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) 2005 Technical & Engineering Emmy Awards ceremony in Princeton, N.J. The Academy recognized Canon for its engineering creativity in lens technology developments for Solid State Imager Cameras in High Definition Formats. "It is with particular pride that Canon accepts this prestigious industry recognition," said Yoroku Adachi, president and chief executive officer of Canon U.S.A., Inc. "The high definition lenses are the result of our ongoing dialog with the international broadcast and production communities and our long and continuous pursuit of optical excellence."

HP Digital Entertainment Center at CEDIA Expo 2005 : HP today demonstrated advanced digital media technology for its High-Definiton Televisions (HDTVs) that will give people direct access to digital content that's currently stored on their PCs. Showcased this week at the CEDIA tradeshow and slated for distribution next summer, digital media technology will enable HP HDTVs to communicate with all PC devices on a home network, including HP Digital Entertainment Centers. HP HDTVs that ship with this functionality will also contain other advancements that will provide consumers with new ways to access entertainment. These future televisions will provide consumers with multimedia services over the Internet.
