digitalreview.ca updates Nikon D2X first look : Our friends from the Canadian based web site digitalreview.ca have updated their Nikon D2X first look with some fine looking sample images. The images are made with a full production Nikon D2X + Nikon AF-S 17-55mm f2.8G DX lens or Nikon AF-S 70-200mm F2.8G VR lens mounted. The sample images are provided in resized edited versions, but there are also links to larger unretouched versions. The Nikon D2X digital SLR was introduced last year around Photokina and features 12.4 Megapixels of effective resolution delivering a higher pixel count that improves image quality by incorporating a new DX format CMOS image sensor. The new Nikon D2X is a successor to the Nikon D1X digital SLR.

Olympus DIWA Awards ceremony : During the CeBIT 2005 event and at the enormous and colorful Olympus stand LetsGoDigital, member and co-founder of the DIWA Awards organisation, was honoured to be part of the DIWA Awards ceremonies. As a representative of the DIWA (Digital Imaging Websites Association), a world-wide organisation of collaborating websites, together with Erik Kaper, General Manager of the DIWA Awards and among other DIWA members we handed over several prestigious DIWA Awards. Olympus received two DIWA Silver Awards for their Olympus E-300 and Olympus Mju mini DIGITAL cameras, one DIWA Design Award for the Olympus Mju mini DIGITAL and a DIWA Platinum 2004 Award for the Olympus Camedia C-8080 Wide Zoom digital camera.

Polaroid x530 digital camera availability: Polaroid Corporation announced today the availability of Polaroid’s new x530 digital camera through Europafoto: www.europafoto.de. The announce- ment was made at the CeBit 2005 convention. The Polaroid x530 will also be available in USA, Canada and the UK by March 31, 2005. Polaroid’s x530 is the first consumer digital camera to incorporate the awardingwinning three- layer Foveon X3 direct image sensor. The new X3 image sensor is the world's only image sensor which directly captures red, green, and blue light at every pixel location, and in layers similar to methods used in color film. The result is richer colors, warmer tones, and sharper images than what is available in competing products.

Eastman Kodak Company's continued innovation in the digital imaging industry secured best-of-show honors at the 2005 International Consumer Electronics Show, where the company won the event's two highest-profile awards for digital imaging products. The first-of-its-kind Kodak EasyShare-One digital camera, created as much for sharing pictures as taking them, secured both the CNET Next Big Thing and the G4techTV Best of CES Awards. These are considered the ultimate honors at the world's largest consumer electronics exhibition, where more than 1,500 companies launch and display tens of thousands of cutting-edge products and services. The CNET Next Big Thing Award recognizes the most promising new products announced at the CES.
