Kodak EasyShare One camera shipment delayed : Eastman Kodak Co. said it will delay shipment of its Kodak EasyShare One digital camera to October, rather than starting sales next month as planned. The camera, which features a large liquid-crystal-display screen and a unique capability of wirelessly transmitting pictures to WiFi local area networks, was introduced in January at the Consumer Electronics Show where it won some awards for innovation. A Kodak spokesman declined to specify issues that led to the delay. He said: "This represents a significant technological advance in the digital camera marketplace. We're taking the time to do it right."

Olympus plans two new high-end SLR camera models : Japanese digital camera maker Olympus swung to a loss in the financial year ended March after the company slashed prices to cope with competition and spent 5.5 bln yen to restructure its digital camera business. Olympus reported a full-year net loss of 11.8 bln yen, reversing a profit of 33.6 bln yen the year before. 'We can attribute the (loss) solely to the sluggishness in the visual product division,' said Hideo Yamada, director and member of the board of Olympus. 'To drastically restructure our visual product division (covering digital cameras), we booked huge restructuring charge in this division,' he added.

DigitalReview.ca sample images online : Our good Canadian friends from DigitalReview have posted some samples from Nikon latest D-SLR camera. The new D-SLR camera from Nikon is one of the latest products announced. DigitalReview are one of the first who were able to publish a series of samples taken at 200, 400 and 1000 ISO. The samples are made with a production sample using an AF-S DX 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G ED IF zoom lens. This Nikon zoom lens will be available with the new Nikon D-SLR camera in a kit package. At LetsGoDigital's office we had the new Nikon D-SLR camera in our hands. This unit was already giving very satisfied images which should be no surprise because the previous Nikon model shared similar hardware elements.

Canon builds digital camera parts factory in Japan : Canon Inc., which forecasts a sixth annual record profit this year, is building a plant that makes digital camera parts near an existing assembly facility in southern Japan to cut costs. Canon will build the plant in Oita city in the southern island of Kyushu, to make imaging sensors designed for digital cameras, President Fujio Mitarai said during a press conference yesterday, according to Hiroshi Shiozuka, a Canon spokesman. The Tokyo-based company also makes the image sensors in a plant in Kanagawa prefecture. The new factory is a part of Canon's effort to consolidate its digital camera production to cut logistic and other costs, the company said.

digitalreview.ca post high ISO Nikon D2Hs samples : The guys from digitalreview.ca, the Canadian based web site, have posted some sample images from a brief hands on with a full production Nikon D2Hs DSLR camera. They have posted a few full size JPEG high ISO image samples from a colour chart and a low light scene. Additionally they also worked out some 800 and 1600 ISO shots and compared them with the previous Nikon D2H digital SLR. According to digitalreview.ca the new Nikon D2Hs DSLR camera performs well comparing to the Nikon D2H DSLR camera. One of the new features on the Nikon D2Hs is a Menu option for selecting High ISO Noise Reduction (same as the Nikon D2X). The settings include Off, Normal and High.
