Fujifilm Euro Press Professional Awards 2006 : Fujifilm Euro Press Professional Awards 2006 announced 60,000 Euro prize money shall recognize excellent photography. The best photos from all of Europe will again be awarded prizes at the Euro Press Professional Awards. Fujifilm is continuing the tradition of this pan-European photo competition which has been running since 1992 and calls upon professional photographers to take part with their current work. In the current competition the four categories which have been announced are Sport, Wildlife, Digital Photo Composing and Night Life. Excellent photography has a particular quality and should be recognized with generous prize money.

Fujifilm UNICEF Photography contest winners : The winner from South Africa was 14 year-old Vincent Sidanga from the Ludaka School in Eastern Cape. With this, Vincent Sidanga wins a trip to Germany and will take part in the awards show on the 30th of August. The winner of the first-prize from Germany was 11 year-old Angelina Strehl from the special needs school for learning development in Aschaffenburg. Both children can get to know each other at the awards show and carry on the exchange won with the competition. The photo gallery of the winning pictures with their highly interesting insight into the everyday life at school for children and teenagers in both countries will be available until the end of August at www.fujifilm.de.

Nokia becomes global sponsor for Live 8 concerts : Nokia announced that it has signed on as a global sponsor of the Live 8 concerts on July 2, 2005, organized by Sir Bob Geldof to call on the eight leaders of the world's richest countries to act for debt cancellation, increased aid and trade justice for the world's poorest people at the G8 summit six days later. John Kennedy of Live 8 said, "Having Nokia as a global sponsor is fantastic as it underscores the importance of communication. Nokia brings additional awareness and visibility to this most important of causes, helping to eradicate poverty." As a global sponsor, Nokia provides funds to help cover the costs associated with running the events.

Participants of all ages are invited to build their own unique creation. This yearly event will be held at Belmar's 18th Avenue Beach on July 6 (rain date: Thursday, July 7).

Olympus BioScapes Imaging Competition : Olympus America Inc. has set the deadline for this year's Olympus BioScapes Digital Imaging Competition. Entries, including still images, image series and movies, must be submitted online by September 30, 2005 and first prize will be Olympus microscope or camera equipment valued at $5,000. Nine additional winners will also receive valuable prizes from Olympus, and honorable mentions will be named. The Olympus BioScapes Digital Imaging Competition, now in its second year, recognizes the finest images of life science specimens captured through light microscopes, using any magnification and any brand of equipment.
