Best Amateur Photographer in Kent 2006 : Eynsford Photographic Image Club (EPIC), organisers of the inaugural countywide search to find the ‘Best Amateur Photographer in Kent 2006’ sponsored by Kent Life magazine, are declaring loudly that Kent is officially obsessed with snapping! The competition to find Kent’s best snappers (Under 16 and Adult) is a precursor to the main event - a two day festival of photography focusing on the fastest growing art form in the UK - photography. EPIC are keen to focus attention on their May 2006 event the : EPIC Photography Festival (May 28th-29th). The festival is the first of it’s kind dedicated to photography in the UK, open to both amateur and professional photographers with no age bar.

Holiday pet photo contest : Shutterfly, an independent online photo service, today announced the Petco.com Cutest Holiday Pet Photo Contest, a partnership with Petco.com that encourages customers to submit holiday-inspired photos of their adorable pets. Participants have an opportunity to win a one-year supply of pet food and Petco gift cards. The contest begins immediately and ends on December 16, 2005. To enter the Cutest Holiday Pet Photo Contest, Shutterfly members simply select the photo that best captures their pet embodying the holiday spirit and then add it to the Shutterfly contest website. Adobe Design Achievement Awards 2006 competition : Adobe Systems Incorporated announced its call for entries to the sixth annual Adobe Design Achievement Awards. The premier student design competition recognizes the world's most talented and promising student graphic designers, photographers, illustrators, animators, digital filmmakers and computer artists from the top design, film, and broadcast institutions. This year's competition will extend the program's scope to 24 participating countries. "The Adobe Design Achievement Awards celebrates student creativity and reinforces Adobe's continued commitment to design education," said Melissa Dyrdahl, senior vice president of corporate marketing and communications at Adobe.

Amateur Photo Contest at 2007 Canon Envirothon : The Canon Envirothon is North America's largest high school environmental education competition. Teams battle for recognition and scholarships by demonstrating their knowledge of natural resources. They apply their training and problem-solving skills in five subject areas - soils, aquatics, forestry, wildlife, and a current environmental issue that changes each year. USA and Canadian student teams begin forming at the regional level, winners move on to the state/provincial event, and finally in late July, students participate in the Canon Envirothon, which is hosted by a different state or province each year. Any amateur photographer of any age can participate.

Fujifilm reveals Cuba photo competition winner : Worcestershire photographer, Tamara Peel, has been named the winner of the recent Fujichrome Velvia 100 photographic competition run by Fujifilm Professional and Light and Land Photographic Holidays. This accolade is one of many national and European awards that Tamara Peel has won over recent years. The prize is a Light & Land photographic holiday to Cuba in November 2005 worth over £2,500. The winner receives a pre-tour tutorial with the tutors, Phil Malpas and Clive Minnitt, before leaving for a 10-day tour of Cuba, stopping off at Havana, Vinales, Cienfuegos and Trinidad. The prize also includes a post-tour follow up with the tutors at the end of the trip.

Fujifilm UNICEF Photography contest winners : The winner from South Africa was 14 year-old Vincent Sidanga from the Ludaka School in Eastern Cape. With this, Vincent Sidanga wins a trip to Germany and will take part in the awards show on the 30th of August. The winner of the first-prize from Germany was 11 year-old Angelina Strehl from the special needs school for learning development in Aschaffenburg. Both children can get to know each other at the awards show and carry on the exchange won with the competition. The photo gallery of the winning pictures with their highly interesting insight into the everyday life at school for children and teenagers in both countries will be available until the end of August at www.fujifilm.de.
