2006 International CES displays mobile electronics : The latest in automotive technology including car audio and video, navigation systems, satellite radio, security and telematics will be on display at the 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the world's largest consumer technology tradeshow, January 5-8, 2006, in Las Vegas, Nevada. "With more than 300 mobile electronics exhibitors, the International CES is the world's largest showcase for in-car technologies," said Karen Chupka, vice president of events and conferences at the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the producer of the International CES. The majority of mobile electronics exhibitors are located in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Audio system buyers guide : Consumers interested in a high quality audio experience this holiday season are encouraged to visit the Consumer Electronics Association's (CEA) new website, www.GreatAudio.com. The site offers information and tips for consumers on how to evaluate and purchase quality audio systems. A dealer locator also assists consumers in finding local retailers to assist them with audio demonstrations and purchases. According to CEA's 12th Annual Holiday Sales and Forecast Survey, home theater speakers, systems, but also plasma televisions, big screen TVs and high-definition televisions (HDTV) are ranked among the top ten consumer electronics gifts on consumers' wish lists this year.

"Many consumers will be excited to receive a new TV, DVR or audio system or other consumer electronics, yet quickly turn frustrated without the knowledge or the necessary cables to set it up properly with their existing audio-video equipment," said CEA President and CEO Gary Shapiro.

The website is the place to learn about the latest technologies, concepts and terminology before consumers head out to retail stores. In addition to educating consumers, CEA hopes to ease consumer confusion about technology and lessen returns by providing information before consumers even enter the store.
