Canon CCD fault in still & video cameras : A problem has been discovered in some of the CCDs (Charge Coupled Devices) used in Canon USA and Asia digital camera and digital video camera products that causes images to appear distorted or not to appear at all. We apologize for the considerable inconvenience this represents for our customers. Along with our respectful apology, we would like to advise our customers of the details of this issue and our policy for handling it, which are as follows. Among the Canon CCDs used in the affected products listed furter down the story, it has been confirmed that, especially under high-temperature/high-humidity environments, the internal wiring may come undone in some places.

Windows Vista alliance between Microsoft and Canon : Microsoft Corporation and Canon Inc. today announced another major milestone resulting from the companies' strategic alliance: a new color management system for the upcoming Microsoft Windows Vista operating system. The new Windows Color System will enable greater fidelity and predictability of color throughout Microsoft's new operating system. The system will provide better screen-to-print matching, better overall color appearance, and support for higher fidelity printing, giving users new tools to take advantage of the capabilities of today's powerful color devices such as digital cameras and color printers. Canon buys NEC Machinery Corporation

Canon buys NEC Machinery Corp. : Canon, Japan's top copier and digital camera maker, announced that it will pay about 5.1 billion yen ($46 million) to buy 54 percent of NEC Machinery Corp. a unit of NEC Corp. Canon said NEC Machinery, a maker of chip-manufacturing equipment, possessed advanced manufacturing technologies for automation equipment and the acquisition would help Canon speed up its on-going cost-cutting effort. Canon will pay 1,212 yen a share for NEC Machinery, a 21 percent premium to its 1,000 yen closing price. "It's a positive move. I think it was a cheap, good purchase," said Mizuho Securities analyst Ryosuke Katsura. "This goes along with Canon's plan to further cut costs in production, and it found a good deal."

Canon promotion at Yankee Stadium for child safety : The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and Canon USA are combining efforts at tonight's New York Yankees' game against the Minnesota Twins as part of Canon's annual promotional night. The first 18,000 fans (age 18 and over) will receive a photo keychain with the Canon and Yankees logos. During pre-game ceremonies, Canon USA President and CEO Yoroku Adachi will present John Walsh, founder of NCMEC and host of the television series "America's Most Wanted," with a symbolic check representing the amount of money donated and raised by Canon on behalf of NCMEC. Mr. Walsh will present Mr. Adachi and Canon USA with the "Making the World Safer for Children" award.

This highly personal photographic collection, appropriately titled 'The Other Side of Football', includes contributions from Thierry Henry, Wayne Rooney, Francesco Totti and Andriy Shevchenko. It offers a rare insight into the private world of the modern football celebrity and showcases a side that typically remains hidden from both the public and the media.
