BenQ PE7700 home theatre projector awarded by EISA : BenQ has been awarded the EISA Best Product 2005-2006 Award for its latest generation of video projector. The PE7700 beat all competitor products to scoop the prestigious award in to be presented in Berlin on 1st September, confirming the BenQ brand name as a major player in home theatre projectors. BenQ reported 42% drop in projectors and phones : BenQ has posted a 42% drop in gross profits in the second quarter as shipments for its high margin products - handsets and projectors fell last quarter. In Australia BenQ has cut most advertising and is rationalising its product mix. Sale and return notebook deals with Harvey Norman and a less than succesful deal with EDS for notebooks is believed to be impacting BenQ bottom line. LCD TV's and monitors are strong along with projector sales. The company's overall gross margins fell to 9.4%, down from 11.3% in the first quarter, but the company remains positive about the third quarter and expects sales to increase more than 10% sequentially, up from $1.21 billion in the second quarter.
