Brits choose memories over money

Dennis Hissink : 2004-10-26 05:57:02
Forget the diamond ring, the antique oil painting or those expensive gadgets; a new survey by Fujifilm reveals that the first thing most of us would save in the event of a fire or flood would be our photographs. According to the survey, 97% of us would be distraught if our personal photos were ever destroyed. Jewellery came second in the poll which asked people to name the top three things they would save with 61%, followed by mobile phones (23%) and collectable paintings and ornaments (19%). Strangely, other items that made the list included the dining room furniture, hair straighteners and a wedding dress. "People attach a great sentimental value to photographs, which often outweighs the monetary value of material items".

Growing importance of digital photography

Dennis Hissink : 2004-10-19 06:17:05
Each year since 1997, InfoTrends/CAP Ventures has conducted surveys to track the adoption and usage of digital cameras. This year's survey of U.S. Internet households shows the penetration of digital cameras increasing to 59% of Internet households, up from 45% in 2003. As a result of rising penetration, the demographics of digital camera owners are shifting towards people of more moderate means. Additionally, women are increasingly more likely to own digital cameras and to spur the purchasing decision for the household. While the demographics of digital camera owners continue to shift towards representing the average Internet user, digital camera owners still show a greater tendency to acquire new technology than non-owners.

LetsGoDigital is heading back from the Photokina

Dennis Hissink : 2004-10-05 09:27:47
After an intensive week at the Photokina show we can look back on a very successful and interesting Photokina. Some things have changed compared to the last Photokina in 2002. It seems that the show wasn't used so much for introducing real first products. In the build-up to the Photokina, some 6 weeks before, the first "Photokina" introductions were already made by brands like Canon and Fujifilm, followed by the majority of the other manufacturers. It doesn't mean that the content of the show has become less interesting, on the contrary. The interest in the digital camera and everything concerning digital imaging is enormous. It occurred frequently that some sections of a booth could not be reached by the visitors.
