Dennis Hissink : 2004-11-22 19:39:17
Sony Electronics is introducing the Sony Microdrive, a 1" removable hard disk drive that will meet the increasing storage needs of many portable digital devices such as digital cameras. Designed to fit the CF+ Type II interface, Sony Microdrive offers a cost-effective solution for expanding consumer storage needs such as high-resolution digital photos and MPEG video. Microdrive also features a 97.9 Mbps data transfer rate to accommodate rapid shooting and moving picture data. Sony Electronics is providing Memory Stick PRO media users with an expanded range of enhanced media that not only offers higher capacities and are high-speed read and write capable, but are also compatible with a vast array of current Memory Stick PRO devices. The updated Memory Stick PRO (High Speed) media features capacities of up to 2GB in the standard-size media and 1GB in the Memory Stick PRO Duo media size and are designed to support both read and write speeds of up to 80Mbps (10MB/s.). Among the fastest in the flash media industry, this higher speed will be especially beneficial for transferring data-intensive images, such as high-resolution digital photos, to and from PCs and other devices.

Sony Electronics is making it easier and less expensive to capture and store high-quality digital video and high-resolution digital images by lowering the suggested retail price of Memory Stick PRO and Memory Stick PRO Duo flash media. Beginning today the 512MB full-size Memory Stick PRO media will be priced around $180. The 256MB Memory Stick PRO card will be available for about $90. Memory Stick PRO media provides high-capacity storage for a variety of digital files. Sony has also reduced the price of its 512MB Memory Stick PRO Duo media to about $250 and the 256MB Memory Stick PRO Duo media has been reduced to about $95. The media has one-third of the volume and half the weight of a standard-size Memory Stick card.

Sony expands Micro Vault line

Dennis Hissink : 2004-07-13 18:00:43
Addressing the needs of today's expanding mobile workforce, Sony Electronics is introducing the Micro Vault PRO, a new USB-enabled device that provides 2 GB storage capacity (about 1.85 in user capacity) and "Auto Sync" file synchronization software, all in an ultra-portable form factor about the length and width of a business card. The Micro Vault PRO utilizes a 1-inch hard disk drive in a striking, brushed-silver design, which measures 2 x 2.75 inches, is only ½ inch thick, and features a swivel USB connector that swings out to plug into a PC's USB port and then folds back to be "hidden" inside the device. With its high-speed USB 2.0 digital interface, the device quickly transfers data without the need for cables or driver software.

Sony upgrades Memory Stick with faster speed

Dennis Hissink : 2004-03-02 00:32:02
The Memory Stick media will get an upgrade; faster speed and new color. Sony Electronics is equipping Memory Stick media users for the digital future by adding the ability to read data at high speeds and copyright protection as standard features on all Memory Stick media available at retailers nationwide. Updated Memory Stick media will start shipping this spring in 32MB, 64MB, 128MB and 256MB (total 128MBx2) capacities. A striking cobalt-blue colour will distinguish the new line from its purple predecessor. When used with compatible (4-pin parallel), high-speed Memory Stick media-enabled hardware, users can enjoy read speeds that are up to four times faster than current standard Memory Stick media.
