Kodak introduced the new DIGITAL GEM Professional Plug-In, which enables users to dramatically reduce both visual noise and film grain in their digital images without excessive softening. This new, professional plug-in has the same basic features and functionality as the award-winning DIGITAL GEM Plug-In, plus it offers 16 bit support, more control and improved results for automatic noise and grain reduction.In conjunction with the release of the new DIGITAL GEM Professional Plug-In, the original DIGITAL GEM Plug-In price has been reduced from $79.95 to $49.95. Foveon Inc announced today that Adobe Systems Incorporated now provides Foveon X3F raw file support with their free plug-in update for Photoshop CS. The new Adobe Camera Raw 2.2 plug-in is immediately available for download online at the Adobe website. Foveon X3F raw files produce stunningly high-quality images and come from digital cameras that incorporate the Foveon X3 direct image sensor. Current models available include the 10 Megapixel Sigma SD9 and SD10, and newly announced 4.5 Megapixel Polaroid x530 digital cameras. Foveon X3 direct image sensors create vibrant, sharp images, since they are the only image sensor chips that directly capture color in three layers (red, green and blue) at every point in the image, just like color film.


Nikon uses MPV technology in Picture Project

Nikon Corporation is proud to announce the signing of a new agreement with Software Architects Inc., one which will allow Nikon to be one of the first digital camera manufacturers to incorporate MPV technology into its photo management software, PictureProject, which was designed for use with Nikon's COOLPIX and digital SLR cameras. The incorporation of MPV into PictureProject will add a further element of enjoyment to the entire digital photography experience. Standing for "Music-Photo-Video," MPV is a new specification for the organization of images and music on PCs and various other electronic products. The Version 1.0.1 of the Picture Project software will be released in June 2004.


New version Olympus Studio software for download

Olympus Studio, an extended version of the Olympus Viewer software which comes bundled with the Olympus E-1 camera, is now available in a new version. This latest release not only makes processing RAW image files faster, it also enables the online upgrading of the camera's firmware. Both the Olympus Studio and Olympus Viewer software, which were developed especially for use with the Olympus E-System camera, feature a number of functions useful in the day-to-day working routine of the professional photographer. One of the highlights is the virtual light box, which works very much like the standard light box used with film. The key difference is that after the photos have been checked, coloured sort marks may be applied.
