Sigma lenses introduction | Photokina 2004

Dennis Hissink : 2004-10-14 12:11:42
Sigma lenses introduction at Photokina : We have had the opportunity to meet Michihiro Yamaki, President of Sigma Corporation. During our meeting we were shown the latest Sigma. The new Sigma 18-125mm F3.5-5.6 DC for FourThirds mount is exclusively designed for use with digital Single Lens Reflex (SLR) cameras and has a 1: 6.9 zoom ratio. A Special Low Dispersion (SLD) and two aspherical glass elements produce a top quality optical performance throughout the entire zoom range. The new Super Multi Layer lens coating, which is optimized for digital SLR cameras, gives superb colour rendition whilst cutting down flare and ghost. This lens has a minimum focusing distance of 50cm at all focal lengths.

Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 EX DC lens introduction

Dennis Hissink : 2004-07-20 01:00:00
Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 EX DC lens introduction : The characteristics of digital SLR cameras were taken into consideration when designing the lens power layout. The new advanced Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 EX DC lens design corrects various aberrations. This lens provides the utmost correction against lateral chromatic aberration which is a serious problem for digital SLR cameras. This lens is coated to get the best colour balance whilst cutting down flare and ghost caused by reflections from the digital image sensor and lens. It has excellent correction for vignetting and superior peripheral brightness is ensured. A Special Low Dispersion (SLD) lens and two aspherical lens elements provide excellent correction for all types of aberrations.

Sigma macro 50mm F2.8 EX DG lens launch

Dennis Hissink : 2004-06-18 09:35:20
Sigma macro 50mm F2.8 EX DG lens launch : The Sigma macro 50mm F2.8 EX DG lens incorporates the very latest optical technology. The new advanced Sigma 50mm EX DG lens design corrects various aberrations and is specially coated to get the best color balance whilst cutting down flare and ghost caused by digital SLR cameras. It provides the utmost correction against transverse chromatic aberration which is a serious problem for digital SLR cameras. The Sigma macro 50mm F2.8 EX DG has a "floating mechanism" which enables to photograph objects precisely not only at life-size reproduction but also at infinity. This mechanism minimizes the fluctuation of aberration at different shooting distances and offers an excellent performance.

Sigma macro 105mm f2.8 EX DG lens launch

Dennis Hissink : 2004-06-18 09:10:47
Sigma macro 105mm f2.8 EX DG lens launch : The Sigma macro 105mm f2.8 EX DG lens employs a new design concept for digital SLR cameras, its new lens power layout produces an excellent optical performance. The new lens coating and new lens design cuts down flare and ghost. The lens is designed to reduce the influence of harmful light caused by reflections from the digital image sensor. Its outstanding optical performance provides the ultimate correction against transverse chromatic aberration and distortion. The lens demonstrates an excellent performance with both digital and 35mm film SLR cameras and boasts compact dimensions of 74mm (max. diameter) and 95mm (overall length).

Sigma 12-24mm lens wins Award

Dennis Hissink : 2004-05-26 01:00:00
Sigma 12-24mm lens wins Award : Sigma announces that the super-wide angle zoom lens 12-24mm F4.5-5.6 EX DG ASPHERICAL HSM introduced to market last November (first zoom lens that has 122 degree diagonal angle of view at 12mm focal length) was awarded Camera Grand Prix 2004 Special Prize by Camera Press Club. Camera Grand Prix is the official prize of "Camera Press Club" which consists of 13 main Japanese Camera and Photography magazines. This year marks the 15th anniversary of Camera Press Club's Special Prize award given to popular, advanced imaging products. Sigma wins "camera press club Special Prize" second time. First time, "SA-300" and Interchangeable lenses of Sigma have won this award in 1993.

Sigma 18-125mm F3.5-F5.6 DC lens launch

Dennis Hissink : 2004-05-22 09:30:00
Sigma 18-125mm F3.5-F5.6 DC lens launch : Sigma announces the launch of the new Sigma 18-125mm F3.5-5.6 DC. This Sigma 18-125mm F3.5-F5.6 DC zoom lens was exclusively designed for use with digital Single-Lens Reflex (SLR) cameras and has 6.9x high magnification zoom ratio. A Special Low Dispersion (SLD) and two pieces of aspherical glass elements produce high level of optical performance through the entire zoom range and also this has resulted in a compact, lightweight lens that features a length of 77.7mm (3"), maximum diameter of 70mm (2.7"), weight of 385gr (13.5oz) and filter size of just 62mm. The new lens coating reduces flare and ghost, which is a common problem of digital cameras and also creates an optimum color balance.

Sigma 24-60mm f2.8 EX DG lens launch

Dennis Hissink : 2004-05-13 00:30:00
Sigma 24-60mm f2.8 EX DG lens launch: Already announced at the PMA 2004 we inform you with the real launch of this new Sigma lens. From super-wide-angle of 24mm the Sigma 24-60mm f2.8 EX DG lens has a very compact design as well as a large-aperture. By effective arrangement of Special Low Dispersion (SLD) and aspherical glass elements, this lens has compact dimensions of 83.6mm maximum diameter, and 84.5mm length. It is capable of taking pictures from a close distance, minimum focusing distance is 38cm at all focal lengths, and has a maximum magnification ratio of 1:5.8. Two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements are provided for effective compensation of color aberration, which is a common problem with super-wide angle lenses.

Sigma DC lenses introduction : Sigma announces the new Sigma 18-125mm F3.5-5.6 DC. This Sigma zoom lens was exclusively designed for use with digital SLR cameras and has 6.9 times high magnification zoom ratio. Image circle is designed to match the size of the image sensor of digital SLR cameras. A Special Low Dispersion (SLD) and two pieces of aspherical glass elements produce high level of optical performance through the entire zoom range and also this has resulted in a compact, lightweight lens. This Sigma lens has a minimum focusing distance of 50cm (19.6") at all focal lengths and equipped with inner focusing system. Since the front of the lens does not rotate, "Petal-type hood" and a circular polarizing filter can be used.
